As the Fire Fades
by Ashley Jones
Have you ever come to the realization that the intensity you have felt in the water for so many years is no longer there? You know-that extra something that kicks in, moving into a higher gear, causing you to stretch farther, kick harder and drive to the wall.
It just happened to me the other day-the realization that I am no longer overly concerned with how fast I am swimming. I have watched my times slowing down in the last five years, but have failed to look at the process taking place as this was occurring. Read more...

Eliminate Shoulder Pain While Swimming Freestyle
by the Professionals at Finis, Inc.
Chances are you've experienced shoulder pain or discomfort at some point in your swimming career. If this has ever prevented you from swimming, you will appreciate just how frustrating this can be. Many people spend lots of time trying to recover but always seem to overlook what is actually causing that pain in the first place: poor stroke technique.
Swimming freestyle with an early hand entry at the start of each stroke will almost always cause the swimmer to drive down with his or her arm rather than extending forward. Noblesville Adult Swim Team, Inc.
Congratulations to the three newest members of the Butternuts: Jeff Maydak, 38, Tom Kline, 47, and Jeff's sister, Danielle Maydak Denniston, 33. Sibling rivalry apparently made Danielle try the 500 yards of butterfly challenge, although she's primarily a triathlete, and she beat her brother's time by one second. The swimmers became the 99th, 100th and 101st Butternuts. All are members of the Noblesville Adult Swim Team in Indiana. Read more...
