Divide and Conquer

Kerry O'BrienMost would agree that a pool full of Masters swimmers creating a thunderous roar of kicking and splashing is a very good thing. But can you have too much of it? The Master's workouts at the USAS Annual Convention may have been balancing on that fence, averaging eleven swimmers per short course lane on Thursday and about eight on Friday. Though all agreed that a crowded practice is better than no practice, it would take some creative lane dynamics to allow for repeated distances over 75 yards. Read more...

CelebrateThere were 34 USMS National records broken at this meet including 33 individual and one relay. Twenty-two of those records were Masters world records. A complete list of records can be found online. Congratulations to:

Rule Book Cover Contest
Deadline Sept. 1

2011 RulebookThe Rule Book cover is printed in full color, 5-1/2 inches by 8-1/2 inches and in a mini version that is 8 ˝ x 4 inches. The artwork should be slightly larger for the bleeds.

The requirements are that the artwork contain the U.S. Masters Swimming logo and lettering and "2012 Rule Book." You can download the logo in several different formats.

Any standard electronic format will be accepted. U.S. Masters Swimming may ask that it is sent in an alternative format if unable to view.

Please email the electronic artwork by September 1, 2011 to Susan Ehringer. A hardcopy of the artwork will be printed in 8-1/2 x 11 for viewing and taken to Convention to allow members at Convention to vote on their favorite cover. If you wish to send the hardcopy artwork, it must be postmarked by September 1, 2011 and sent to: Susan Ehringer, 4210 N. Church Way #2, Louisville, Ky. 40207.

Greenville Splash YMCA Masters recently had a fun summer workout that was a 1970's theme. Head coach Leslie Scott dressed in costume and they swam sets from the 70's, had a trivia contest, relays, disco music and refreshments.
