Swimming Through Breast Cancer

In a few days, I will participate in my first swim meet, ever! No, I'm not 11-years-old like my competitive-swimmer daughter. I am a 39 years old stay-at-home mom who is a breast cancer survivor. USMS Coach Level I and Level II Certification Class
The Warrenton Virginia Masters Swim Team and USMS will be hosting an ASCA Level I and II swim coach certification class March 5-6 in Warrenton, Va. The class will be led by Mel Goldstein, former USMS President and current USMS Coach and Club Services Coordinator, and Scott Bay, coach of Daytona Masters. Swimming Saves Lives Fund
The USMS Swimming Saves Lives Fund, established in 2010, focuses its resources on the vital lifesaving and lifetime benefits of swimming. In addition to drowning prevention, swimming has a positive impact on health conditions like obesity, cardiovascular disease and diabetes, which afflict millions of people in the U.S. The Swimming Saves Lives Fund provides grants to programs that support the lifelong benefits of swimming. We've Got Spirit!
Ravena Swim Club
The 2010 "Crazy 10-Mile Swim" was organized by the Ravena Swim Club in Albany County, New York, with the desire to create a different type of meet, to touch the limits, to do something special. The team got together and swam 10 miles in the pool. The first swimmer finished in an incredible three hours and 54 minutes. The last finished in eight hours and 21 minutes.
