We are so glad to have you as a part of the Egoscue family.  March has marked the re-launch of our newsletter; full of exciting information to keep you clicked in!  How are those new year's resolutions progressing?  Has 2012 been good to you so far?  We hope this newsletter brings you some exciting motivation and inspiration to continue your healthy journey.

 

The Power of Positive   Positive Boulder
 
"A pessimist sees the difficult in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty" Winston Churchill.

Ever notice how often people who are successful are also happy and positive? It's almost like they live in this un-pop-able bubble of optimism. Well it's time to create yours; this will be especially helpful on your Egoscue journey.

Train your universe:
  1. Eliminate negative self-talk- talking down on yourself is going to do nothing but bring yourself down and you are with your self all day (so you will be hearing it all day)
  2. Catch the positive wave- surround yourself with optimistic people; it's contagious
  3. Thought of the day- journal at least one positive of the day before bed
  4. A negative appointment- schedule 10-15 minutes per day (same time every day) to complain; but remember this is the only time you can speak negatively
  5. Feng-shui- create a positive generator; make sure your home/office/car are all positive environments.
  6. Eye on the prize- create a goal board; hang it somewhere you will see everyday.
Remember on your Egoscue journey there will be ups and downs, the Egoscue Team is here for support. Keep that optimistic headlight focused on the future; "Whatever the mind expects, it finds."

 

 

Client of the Month-   JanNaud
My Name is Jan Naud. I am 59 years old. My entire working career has been in the animal field, mostly working with wild animals. This has involved lots of heavy lifting and other strenuous activities. As a result I have had back "problems" for the last 35 years! NOTHING has worked to fix any of them. I had tried everything but the kitchen sink to stop the endless pain that just wouldn't go away. I was finally told by a neurologist after an MRI that there was no solution, take these pills and sit in a chair for the rest of your life and lastly, get a desk job! 

None of these options were going to work for me. So I spent months reading and searching, finally finding Egoscue. This program has literally changed my life more than any single thing that I've ever done for my body and honestly soul as well.

It hasn't been easy. It's been a little over a year now and I still have alot of work yet to do. The anatomical changes that my body has gone through in this past year have been dramatic and really miraculous. I have worked my butt off to achieve these results but the hard work has been worth every minute of it! At times I have gone one step forward and two steps back. Instinctively I knew that this program was working so I kept pushing ahead and slowly but surely it's WORKING.

 

All of the Egoscue staff are simply amazing, caring, patient, understanding, hugely knowledgeable, and lastly willing to try everything at their disposal to guide you towards you goal of being pain free.

 

I cannot say enough about this program and encourage everyone to try it. You too can change your life through this program!

Ecise of the Month, Supine Foot Circles/ Point Flexes- 

Spring time is a time for hiking and playing outdoors.  Before you get outside; use supine foot circles and point flexes to activate the kinetic chain of the lower leg as well as stabilizing the hip joint!

How to?
  1. Lie on back with one leg extended and the other leg bent and pulled up toward your chest.
  2. Clasp your hands behind the bent knee.
  3. Keep the foot on the floor pointed straight up toward the ceiling and your thigh muscles tight.
  4. Circle the lifted foot one way for 40 repetitions, then reverse direction for the same number of reps (make sure to move from the ankle and not the knee!).
  5. Point/flexes, bring the toes back toward the shin to flex, then reverse the direction to point the foot forward for the indicated number of reps.
  6. Switch legs and repeat.

"I am the founder of Unleash the Beach (check out the site) and we have been advocating for a dog beach in Santa Monica. We won the support for a pilot dog beach from the City Council of Santa Monica, the LA Times, the Santa Monica Daily Press, but the State Parks has nixed the project. We are in the process of working with other people within the state system to try to get a pilot program started. Please join our email list and join our petition here."
