Diggin' the Farmers M arket
AIM is excited to introduce a new look for our market tour education program. "Diggin' the Farmers Market" captures the enthusiasm of our market tour participants who come to learn about local agriculture, healthy eating, and the role of farmers markets in a vibrant local food system.
In 2010, AIM led 52 farmers market tours, inspiring over 700 K-12 students and 300 adult participants to dig in to where their food comes from and who grows it. Groups included Pleasant Valley Elementary, Sausalito Marin City School District, Tamalpais High School District, and Venetia Valley. In 2011, we look forward to growing the program further. New features include themed tours focusing on: food & health, sustainable agriculture, energy, market math, and seasonality. While most tours take place at our Thursday Marin Farmers Market, we're happy to explore the possibility of a tour at one of our weekend markets or a special visit to your school or group.
To learn more about our "Diggin' the Farmers Market" Tours, please visit our website, view our tour request form, or contact Tyler Thayer, AIM's Education Program Coordinator. |
Best of Marin & SF Baylist
Voting for the Best of Marin came to a close on Sunday, Jan. 23rd. Marin Farmers Market has taken home the title of "Best Organic Produce" the last four years in a row, and we are hopeful that our devoted customers will land us in the hall of fame this year with another best of. Thanks for all your support! There is still time left to vote for the SF Baylist contest. Polls open on January, 24th. Don't forget to vote for your favorite farmers market! |
Valentine's Day at the Farmers Market
Join us at any AIM farmers market the week before Valentine's Day to celebrate your farmers market community by painting the farmers market aisles with messages of love (like the one pictured right).
To add to the love fest, the first five customers who stop by the information booth and tell us what they love about their AIM farmers market will receive a free reusable produce bag.
