Vote for Best of Marin
Pacific Sun is hosting its annual vote for the Best of Marin. Our Marin markets are up for "Best Organic Produce" in the "Eco-friendly Stuff" section of this year's ballot. Five years ago 5% of our farmers at the Sunday Marin Farmers Market were organic, today we're at 40%! We've been thrilled to receive the award the past three years and would love to keep the streak going.
Click here to vote for "Marin County Farmers Market" for "Best Organic Produce." We know the name change can be a bit confusing - we promise that's us! |
Getting Local Food into the Lunch Box
Brad Burger, Market Manager of the Hayward Farmers Market and Sunday Marin Farmers Market, has been elected to serve a two-year term on the
Oakland Food Policy Council (OFPC). Brad's role will be to strengthen the connection between Oakland residents and the region's strong agricultural sector. This month Brad and the other 20 council members visited the factory of Hodo Soy Beanery, an MAI member and participant in the Sunday Marin Farmers Market.
Getting to know local food producers is an important first step in OFPC's efforts to bring local healthy food to Oakland public schools and Bay Area schools at large. Brad looks forward to sharing his experience distributing local produce to 15 schools in Marin and San Francisco through MAI's Farm to Fork Program.
Join the campaign to bring real food to school cafeterias by visiting Slow Food USA and signing the petition to "Give Kids the School Food They Deserve". Read "The Story of a School Lunch" to follow one meal served at a west Oakland elementary school from start to finish. | |
