A BIG thank you to all the LCRs that returned the LCR Survey. Your feedback is vital for us to continue to improve and enhance the LCR program. Each survey has been read. Many good ideas and suggestions were made.
Our Open Hearts Family Services held a dinner for clergy in Volusia and Flagler Counties to help promote the need for foster care families in local churches. Approximately 150 people attended representing many different denominations and faith communities. If you have any questions about foster care and how you can become involved, please contact Rev. John Gill at john.gill@fumch.org.
A 2013 Children's Home calendar will be completed soon. These are mailed out to our top giving donors. We will have a few extra that will be available. Some LCRs request a supply and use them as part of a fund raiser, such as the LCR at High Springs UMC that requested 70.
Please keep us informed if a new LCR is selected, or any of your contact information changes.

A Well Desrved Retirement After 38 Years at the Children's Home
Wayne Strickland was presented the Lifetime Achievement Award at the recent annual meeting of the Florida Coalition for Children. Wayne has been with Children's Home for 38 years and is retiring at the end of September. Wayne has been a real leader, a mentor to thousands of youth and many staff. We are very proud of Wayne and the enduring contribution he has made to the Children's Home. Wayne is the Program Development Senior Director and for many years served as our Director of Admissions. He will be greatly missed.
Eagle Scout Project
Appreciated
Ryan Goodenough is pictured on the right with the Scout Master Tim Goodenough as they presented the clothing donation project.
As a part of his efforts to become an Eagle Scout Ryan Goodenough collected almost 1,100 pounds of clothing for the Children's Home. He not only collected clothes in good, usable condition, but brought them to us folded and sorted according to size, age and gender. We are deeply grateful for this wonderful gift and we are glad to be a part of this young man being able to earn the rank of Eagle Scout. This gift will help to supply our "Clothing Room" that helps to assist and supplement our young people with their clothing needs.
