"Thank you so very much for everything you all did for me.  I thank God everyday for making people like you.  I truly believe that all of you were heaven sent.  I love you all!"

Items of Interest

A group of our young men, along with staff, were able to participate in the Jonah and the Whale Fishing Tournament that is sponsored each year by Mandarin UMC in Jacksonville.  Following the tournament a fish fry and awards dinner was held.  All the proceeds of the fishing tournament go to benefit the Children's Home.  We deeply appreciate all Mandarin UMC does for us.  They were awarded Church of the Year in 2011.

Chair-Stool

A big that you goes to First UMC of Lakeland.  The church recently held an auction to benefit the Children's Home.  Furniture and items made by the carpentry program in our Career Development Center were auctioned.  Ms. Patsy Stokes is the LCR and Mrs. Beverly Hollis serves on our Board of Trustees.

      BAPTISM CELEBRATION

Baptism 2012 2Baptism 2012 1Baptism 2012 3
Three of our residents made the decision to receive baptism and make a public declaration of their faith in Jesus Christ.  We celebrate this significant step in their faith journey.  The whole campus was present at a service held at our campus swimming pool where our Chaplain, Reverend Lauren Dancey, perform the ceremony.  It is due to the considerable support we receive from churches through the Fifth Sunday Offering and the many friends of the Children's Home who give to us, that we have a campus and program grounded in the love and ministry of Jesus Christ.  You really do make a true and lasting impact on the lives of the children and families in our care.
MAY

National Foster Care Month

May is National Foster Care Month.  This is an opportunity for us to recognize all of the wonderful foster parents who open their homes and hearts to children whose families are in crisis.  Many foster families adopt the children in their homes when family reunification is not possible, therefore offering permanency and stability for these children.  Foster parents leave their mark on future generations, helping to end cycles of neglect and abuse.  The need for loving homes continues to grow.  The Children's Home will celebrate its annual Foster Parent Appreciation Day on May 5, 2012 with a picnic, games and fun day for all our foster families and children.

Our foster care offices serving Volusia & Flagler Counties, Seminole, Orange & Osceola Counties and Hillsborough County are reaching out into the community to increase the number of foster families that are desperately needed to take care of children and youth in need.  The staff at these locations are prepared and willing to come to your church to present a program or talk to any group in your church about foster care.  For information call:
