Resident Testimonial

"I am writing this letter in an effort to let you know that in my past, lonely, hard times how much your assistance was appreciated. I would like to first thank you for having faith in me. This gave me the motivation to want to make everyone proud of me. Secondly, you gave me a lovely home that I could call my own. This gave me a sense of security and comfort knowing that I could sleep safely and not have to worry where my next meal was coming from. And last but not least, you gave me love. There are many things on this earth that can be appraised, but love is simply not one of them. It is wonderful feeling to know you're loved. I can gladly say I felt loved. Thank you."

Items of Interest

A big thank you goes to the men of Asbury UMC in Orange Park, Florida. They gave $1,300 to provide Christmas dinner for all the homes on our campus. Mr. Dick Fellows is the Local Church Representative. Thank you for your efforts.

 Monticello

A group of dedicated ladies from the First UMC of Monticello, Florida have contributed their time to knit caps for the young people at the Children's Home. Ten ladies have been involved. The hat knitters in the picture are from left to right, Pat Frey, Milly Jo Clark and Alice Stadin. Dianne Westbrook is the Local Church Representative. Thank you so much.

 Kwana 2

On January 3, 2012, members of the Gamma Mu Omega Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. gave a marvelous dinner and presentation of Kwanzaa to our campus. Mrs. Sallie Shelton Culver (pictured), a former Board of Trustee Chairperson, is a member.

 New Sign

Next time you come on campus you will see a new, much larger, easier to follow brick direction sign. Our old sign was out of date, since several new buildings have been added, which were not included. It was made possible by a gracious gift from the B. W. Simpkins Family Trust in loving memory of Jan and Alex.

Items to Start the Year

Fifth Sunday Offering

The first Fifth Sunday Offering of the year will be on January 29, 2012.  Please contact us if you need bulletin inserts, pew envelopes or a speaker for that Sunday. Please note that the next Fifth Sunday will be April 29, 2012. The Fifth Sunday Offerings are a vital source of funding for our ministry.

LCR Training

Please make note of the dates and times of the upcoming LCR training events (times, dates and locations are listed below). Please make every effort to attend one of these events so that you will receive the latest news about the Children's Home and meet and fellowship with other Local Church Representatives. If you have any questions, you can contact Stephen Hartsfield or Bess Bussey. We look forward to seeing you.

Goal of Giving for 2012

Many times we are asked, "How do you come up with the goal of giving for our church?" It consists of two parts. First, at the Florida Annual Conference each year the delegates vote for the per member goal of giving as part of the Children's Home report. For the past few years we have maintained the goal at $12.00 per member. Second, on the Year End Report your church submits to the Annual Conference, a membership figure is recorded. We receive these membership figures from the conference office and multiply them by $12.00 to get your overall goal of giving for the year. If you have any questions about your church's goal, please feel free to contact us.

Year End Report

As soon as the books are closed and all the proper accounting is done, the end of year giving report will be made available on our website. We know that many churches work hard to make sure their goal of giving is met. We deeply appreciate all your efforts on behalf of the Children's Home.

Day On Campus

Plans are already underway to prepare for our Day On Campus celebration on March 17, 2012. If you are in the East Central or South West Districts, a packet of information is being mailed to your church to help you promote this annual event. If you have any questions, or need additional materials or information, please contact the Development Office at (386) 668-5088.

 Car Donation Program

Oftentimes, the Children's Home receives calls asking about the possibility of donating cars to benefit the ministry of the Children's Home. We typically refer people to a car donation program that handles the pickup and processing of the vehicle. However, we will at times receive a car donation directly. We hope you understand that we do not have the staff resources to come to you to pick up a vehicle donation. The usual specifications for car donations are as follows:

  • Car should be road ready
  • Car should not be older than 10 years
  • Maximum 100,000 miles
  • Must have been registered in the last 6 months or ready to be registered

Please go to our website www.allchildrenfirst.org and click on "How To Donate A Car" on our homepage to learn more about it.

THANK YOU FOR BRINGING CHRISTMAS JOY!

Christmas is always a special time at the Children's Home and it is only made possible by the many friends and generous donors to the Home.  This Christmas was no exception.  Below are just a few pictures of Christmas around the campus.
