"While we are profoundly grateful for the invaluable part the Children's Home played in saving our daughter, we are still saddened by what we have learned about so many children there. My husband and I want to be of some assistance in providing for the children that you care for there. We hope to make others aware of the tremendous service you provide and how they too will want to help with the future of these children."

Kitchen in the Bell Home. |
Trish and Dan Bell Home and Sarah Hunt Home are almost complete. A dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on September 20, 2011. Look for news about this celebration in the next issue.
Thank you to all the churches, groups and individuals that collected school supplies and provided funds for all our residents to begin the new school year ready and prepared. THANK YOU!
Our thanks is expressed to Florida Hospital for providing an afternoon of fun and learning on August 20, 2011. Many volunteers came and created a Passport to the World. Each resident received a passport which they took around to tables representing countries. After a presentation and activities they went to "customs" to have their passport stamped for that country. Prizes were also given out.

Our deep appreciation is expressed to Shari Schneider. She was hired in 2002 to organize and initiate our foster care ministry. Under her leadership and guidance the Children's Home has grown to be a foster care provider in 6 counties across Florida. Shari recently retired. We wish her well and cannot express our gratitude enough for helping the Children's Home serve more children, in more ways and in more places.

BAPTISM CELEBRATION
 | |
Reverend Lauren Dancey, Chaplain of the Children's Home, baptizes one of four residents in our campus pool. |
Four of our residents made the decision to receive baptism and make a public declaration of their faith in Jesus Christ. We celebrate this significant step in their faith journey. The whole campus was present at a service held at our campus swimming pool. Three of the residents requested immersion baptism. It is due to the considerable support we receive from churches through the Fifth Sunday Offering and the many friends of the Children's Home who give to us, that we have a campus and program grounded in the love and ministry of Jesus Christ. You really do make a true and lasting impact on the lives of the children and families in our care. |

Hardin Hall |
Please make sure the street address of the Children's Home is correct in your local church records. Over a year ago, the name of the road in front of the Children's Home was changed to honor and reflect our long history of serving children and families. The post office would continue to deliver mail to the old address (51 Main Street) for one year. Since that time has elapsed, some mail has been returned to churches that were not aware of the address change. Our official address is:
Florida United Methodist Children's Home
51 Children's Way
Enterprise, FL 32725

Giving Opportunity

We would like to take this opportunity to promote our Path of Hope gift brick program. For several years now we have been giving people, groups and organizations the opportunity to make a gift to the Children's Home and at the same time leave a lasting legacy of their generosity.
The walkway up to and around our Roland Memorial Chapel is slowing being enveloped in the names of people and groups that are special to the Children's Home. Every time our young people walk into our chapel they are reminded of the many friends of the Children's Home who give to provide for them a home and a healing ministry.
All funds raised through the Path of Hope are placed in the Permanent Endowment Fund of the Children's Home. Each gift will continue to give and help to provide a home for children in perpetuity. A gift brick will also be an enduring and attractive witness of the donor's generosity. A gift brick can be an honor or memorial for a loved one, recognize an anniversary or special occasion, or acknowledge a church Sunday School class or other group. Gift bricks come in three sizes. Each size holds a different number of characters. 4" x 8" bricks are $100. 8" x 8" bricks are $500. 16" x 16" bricks are $1,000.
Path of Hope brochures with ordering information can be obtained by calling our Development Office at (386) 668-5088. Please request a supply of brochures to promote this popular program in your local church. |
Great Idea!

Friendship United Methodist Church in Punta Gorda goes above and beyond the Fifth Sunday Offering each year with a simple, but effective method. This is a small membership church of only 117 members. Each Sunday a large container is placed in the narthex of the church for people to place their loose change in as they exit the church. Simply using this passive method, this small church recently presented the Children's Home with $2,219.62 in change. This one idea raised far more than their goal of giving for the Children's Home of $1,404.00. |
