THANK YOU REVEREND LES RABB!

OUR GOODWILL AMBASSADOR IS RETIRING

Les and Mary

I would like to take this opportunity to express our deep and sincere appreciation to Reverend Les R. Rabb, a retired United Methodist minister who has been serving the Children's Home since 1992. We are sad to say goodbye to Les and Mary, but we celebrate with them as they transition to the next chapter in their life.

Les Rabb was ordained an elder in the Florida Annual Conference in 1954 and served churches throughout Florida until his retirement in 1992.  After 38 years of service, Les was not done with ministry and soon began his work with the Children's Home.  Les spent the majority of his time traveling around the state of Florida saying "thank you" to the many friends and supporters of the Children's Home, which means that Les was the face of the Children's Home for so many people who love this ministry.

In addition, Les spent many Sundays preaching in different churches.   He presented countless programs at fellowship dinners, and spoke to men's and women's groups and to anyone else that wanted to hear about the ministry of the Children's Home.  Les also represented the Children's Home at mission fairs, training events, and various other functions, and volunteered for many events on campus.  Les traveled untold miles, and spent many days on the road for the benefit of the Children's Home.  Our work in development would not be as successful without all he has done for us.

Les was a significant presence in the churches and to the people he visited, as well as a kind and gentle influence on the Children's Home campus.  He gave pastoral guidance to staff and residents alike.  We were fortunate to have Les Rabb as a part of the Children's Home family for so long.  Les truly was our Goodwill Ambassador.  Les and his wife, Mary, plan to make their home in North Carolina.

The summer months offer a unique opportunity to provide our young people with an array of learning experiences.  Summer Quest is a comprehensive program that involves the entire campus to help children learn fun, new activities while gaining self-awareness.  We hope each resident will discover hidden talents and be challenged and stretched beyond what they think they can accomplish.

Some of the activities include Sports, Pottery, Arts/Crafts, Education Enrichment, Computer Skills, Writing, Campus Service, Spiritual Development, Cooking, Fitness, Wood Shop, Scrapbooking and much more.  We are excited about the coming summer and hope that each resident will experience a summer to remember.

FOSTER PARENT APPRECIATION DAY

We recently celebrated our annual Foster Parent Appreciation Day.  It is always a very fun and festive day for us to say thank you to those special people that open up their homes to take care of children in need.  This year over 300 parents and children were on our campus to enjoy rides, games, a picnic, face painting, arts and crafts and much more.

If you would like to receive information about being a foster parent, or to find out how you can support our efforts reachng these children and young people, please contact Shari Schneider, Director of Foster Care Services at (386) 668-4774 or shari.schneider@fumch.org.
