"There are many jobs in America that are just too small for the human spirit. Not many jobs allow you to influence the life of another human being. Every day I come to work on the campus of the Children's Home I see God in the faces of our children in care. Who could ask for more?"

CONGRATULATIONS!
The Florida United Methodist Children's Home is proud to lift up and celebrate those individuals and churches that have gone above and beyond to support the work and ministry of the Children's Home. At our upcoming Day On Campus event we will present awards for Church of the Year, Pastor of the Year, Local Church Representative of the Year and Mission Work Group of the Year. We also have installed perpetual plaques
in Hardin Hall where we display the names of the recipients as they are awarded each year. For 2010 we recognize the following:
Church of the Year
Plantation United Methodist
Plantation UMC has consistently been a top giving church to the Children's Home for many years. The church is a dependable participant at Day On Campus, and are sending a group this year. They have come for many tours and sent volunteers and work teams. Plantation gave $37,683.26 in 2010. Thank you Plantation United Methodist for all you do to undergird the Children's Home and for the many years of steadfast support.
Pastor of the Year
Dr. John Stephenson
Dr. John "Jack" Stephenson has been the pastor of Anona UMC in Largo for 18 years. His church has consistently been listed as one of the best giving churches to the Children's Home year after year. In 2010 Anona UMC gave $67,523.87. Jack is an enthusiastic supporter of the Home. He freely opens the pulpit and worship service to hear the Children's Home message. He recruits tremendous LCRs and gives them his full support. He has encouraged members of his church to serve as trustees at the Home. Thank you Jack Stephenson for your many years of support for the Children's Home.
Local Church Representative of the Year
Ms. Marsha Royle
Marsha Royale has been a very effective LCR. She volunteers for numerous events and projects. She is frequently on campus. She also recruits volunteers for Day On Campus and other Children's Home events. Her church, Community UMC, DeBary, Florida consistently meets and exceeds their goal of giving to the Children's Home. In 2010, her church gave $25.54 per member. In 2010 she created the Baskets of Blessings for our independent living young people. It is a laundry basket filled with items a young person will need who is moving into their first place. Other churches have picked up the idea and are providing baskets. Thank you Marsha Royle for having a big heart for the Children's Home.
Mission Work Group of the Year
Oceanview United Methodist Church, Juno Beach
Oceanview UMC has sent a dedicated mission work group every year since 2003, except for a hurricane interrupted 2004. They come ready for hard work and are committed to the tasks given them. We appreciate them giving of their time, talents and resources to support the ministry of the Children's Home and for carrying the love and spirit of Jesus Christ in all their work at the Children's Home. We are proud to give this award to Oceanview UMC of Juno Beach, Florida. |

2010 Church Giving
Thank you so much for all you do as Local Church Representatives. We could not operate this life changing ministry without each and every one of you. We deeply appreciate all the local churches that worked hard to meet their goal of giving of $12.00 per member for 2010. A list of all the churches that met their goal of giving will be published in the next edition of The Herald and listed in the Workbook Supplement at the Florida Annual Conference. Listed below are the top 20 churches that went above and beyond to support the Children's Home. One list contains regular giving and the other list is the churches with the largest per member giving in the Florida Annual Conference. We created the list to recognize 40 different churches since some churches would have been on both lists. Thank you for all you do to make a real difference in the lives of children and families.
