Resident Poem
Friends

Friends are there through

thick and thin.

They are still there when

you think that everything

is coming to an end.

Friends are there for you

when everything is going wrong.

They are there to tell

you to hold your head

up high and to be strong.

Friends are there if

you win or lose.

When you are with your

true friends you can be just

you and only you.

 Did You Know?

Ping Pong

Rainbow Lakes UMC in Dunnellon has closed.  In a gesture of generosity they have given the Children's Home a complete set of hand bells complete with 2 1/2 octaves and paraments.

Recently many of our residents sang and performed at the 2011 Conference Women's Retreat held at the Life Enrichment Center in Leesburg, Florida.

Current items needed:

Deodorant

Another Chrismon ornament came from Cross City UMC.  Thank you so much.

Education Celebration!

Award Night 2

The second grading period of the school year brought more strong achievements in the classroom from FUMCH students.  We celebrate these successes with an Awards Night in the chapel.  Our education program, located in the Worrell Memorial Education Center, provides numerous resources including a library, computers, resource materials, tutoring rooms and more to help enhance what each boy and girl receives in school every day.  The following is a look at some of the awards for the second grading period:

7 residents made the Honor Roll

17 residents increased their G.P.A.

35 residents received all Good Conduct Marks

3 residents were recognized in all three categories

 Equine Therapy

Nearly fifteen of our children have been working with horses in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP). It involves setting up ground activities that include the horses, and which will require the child to apply certain skills. Children find they aren't able to manipulate the horse as they have learned to do with their clinical staff, and so learn non-verbal communication, assertiveness, creative thinking and problem-solving, leadership, taking responsibility, teamwork and relationships, and confidence.
