Positive Thinking is Powerful
by Jackie Hanson,
Personal Trainer

If I were a super hero I would wave a magic wand over folks who are negative. Negativity is "Soul Cancer" and regardless of what you are trying to accomplish, whether it be losing weight, getting stronger or trying to improve overall health, negativity can get in the way of meeting your goals.

Think about how many times a day you say things about yourself that are negative. I bet it is a lot, unless you are one of those with an extremely high ego or very healthy self-esteem. This may seem petty to some but retraining your brain to be more positive is just as important as training your muscles.

Positive thinking brings better results, improves your mood and gives you more energy. Think of someone who is negative. How do they make you feel? Now think of someone who is positive (like your Personal Trainer!). How do they make you feel? I am pretty sure the negative person makes you feel drained while the positive person gives you energy and puts a smile on your face.

Starting this month, start being more positive about yourself, your family, etc. Start by smiling more. Give people compliments or start a gratitude list with some friends by email. I like the gratitude list because it makes me appreciate every day. I send a friend 5 things I am grateful for every day by email and she does the same back.

The more positive energy you produce the more success you will have. If you are one of those who suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder, get a head start now to help you get through the winter months. Whatever you do, don't stop exercising because exercise is known for relieving stress, giving you more energy and improving self-confidence.
Remember this quote from Henry Ford: "If you think you can, you're right. If you think you can't, you're right."

What Happens to Skin as You Age
Everyday Health

You can't control genetics, but you can control your exposure to many of the environmental factors that can make your skin look older.

Age-related changes in your body plus increased exposure to environmental factors can cause your skin to age beginning as early as your twenties. Everyone's skin ages differently, but typical signs of aging skin include wrinkles, fine lines, sagging, spider veins, and age spots.
