Massage and Exercise
by Jen Patterson, LMT

Now here's some good insight - if you work out, massage is a great fit for you. When it comes to your body, there is no better match than massage and exercise. We all know or should know that movement is key to life; both exercise and massage improve your ability to move, but when done hand in hand, they have an exponential effect.

So, don't just think of massage as an occasional luxury, but as an important addition to your overall fitness/wellness program. Massage does more than relax you and decrease stress. Massage helps you recover quicker from work-out to work-out, leaving you feeling less sore and more energized.

Remember, massage is no longer just for the professional, Olympic, or elite athlete. Massage is a health benefit for everyone. Consider adding massage to your exercise program, and I promise you will FEEL the difference.

Greetings!

Our beautiful Kentucky spring is slowly giving way to summer; the long, warm days make this a great time for you to bump up your cardio workouts by adding long walks or runs. Early morning and/or evening jaunts can be beautiful, calming and a great way to decompress from the stresses of life. A wonderful "in town" place to walk is the UK arboretum, while for a convenient country hike, try Raven Run Preserve. Whatever you choose, get out there!

Our new Versailles studio is officially open and we are up and running at Wildcat Fitness in Hartland. All Fitness Plus clients have the option of working out at any of our locations.

Fitness Plus is excited to announce the addition of David Cubine to our personal wellness team. He will be offering private sessions in Tai Chi and Chi Kung training. Playing a Fairway Bunker

I hit a pretty good tee shot but I just hit it a little left and I am in a fairway bunker. I have a full 5-iron into the green so I am going to make a full swing out of a fairway bunker. A couple of things you need to know about the rules of golf, I can't remove a loose impediment, I am in a hazard, and I can't ground my club. Those are essential elements in knowing how to play out of a fairway bunker. This is a question that I get asked fairly often, what is the technique for hitting out of a fairway bunker?  Watch the video from Golflink.com>>

While researchers still don't know the exact cause of osteoarthritis, we do know that being over the age of 60, carrying excess weight, and being out of shape all significantly increase your risk. If you already have osteoarthritis, or you want to decrease your risk of getting it, a regular exercise program can help.   Read more from EverydayHealth.com>>
