Greetings!
You can't always recognize a homeless mom. I wasn't on the corner begging for donations. Or sleeping in a downtown doorway. I was the nice girl working at the coffee shop who greets you every time you stop in for your morning latte. My customers didn't know that my daughter and I were homeless. We drifted from friend to friend and occasionally stayed at a shelter and sometimes "camped" in our car. It was nearly impossible to keep a job while........ .(read the rest of Marcie's story "My Customers Didn't Know") |
| Breaking Ground in Shoreline!
Jacob's Well Expansion Project |
It's because of homeless families like Marcie's (in the story above) that we're pushing forward to build Vision House Jacob's Well in Shoreline. After 20 years of successfully providing transitional housing, counseling, child care and support services in Renton to help homeless families rebuild their lives, we believe that the time is NOW to move forward on this project.
Many churches, community groups, construction companies and individuals are rallying together to build this housing complex. We already have the property, architectural plans and construction documents in place. And we're breaking ground within a month!
Put on a hard hat and join us in this exciting project to provide homeless children and mothers a place of refuge in which to restore their lives. There are a variety of tasks you can help with!

| Thoughts From Susan
Co-Founder & Executive Director
|
The One Night Count of the homeless that occurred at the end of January, found over 5,000 children, women and men in King and Snohomish Counties living on the streets, in cars, under freeways and anywhere else they could find a bit of shelter. It breaks my heart! That's why my husband, John, and I have dedicated the last 20 years of our lives to helping homeless families rebuild their lives. We've made progress, but there is still much work to be done.
I'm grateful for your partnership in helping homeless children and their mothers. Your donations provide housing, child care, counseling and coodination of services such as job training, employment and life skills training. Your gifts change the lives of those who are most vulnerable in our community. Thank you for caring!
God bless,
