The Cause:

Sionfonds for Haiti maintains 2 schools and meal programs, sends medical teams, runs an adult education program, and is affiliated with Foyer de Sion Orphanage.

Sionfonds has been working for the poorest of the poor in Haiti since 2004 and will continue to do so after this tragedy.  In addition to helping rebuild communities, their goal is to help families stay together through programs which help create self-reliance.

An email written on January 21 to U.S. Director of Sionfonds Annie Blackstone, from an employee of  Sionfonds, who worked in the office in Port-au-Prince, showsthe desperation they are facing:

"Hi Annie, I hope you already know everything that happened in the office. I'd like to tell you there are many children of sionfonds who are harmed, wounded Some of them are dead such as Louigne Dejean , Altemar Mirlene... so  i'd like you to find a group of people ( doctors and nurces) to come.  it is very important that you bring stuffs like clothes, food or anything you can cause now so many of the chrildren are homeless, hungry. so hopeless so i need you to come if you can. love Mirlene."
