Just desserts!
It seems that everything seems to be a little lighter in the summer. Salads instead of stews, cottons instead of wools, sandals instead of shoes, and the firefly dessert menu has changed with the season as well.
We have something for everyone, and if one of your favorites has disappeared, don't worry, it will be back! But in the meantime, we have some delectable desserts to choose from!
For chocolate lovers, there's the firefly CHOCOLA TE PEANUT BUTTER CUP, a dark chocolate cup, chocolate silk, with peanut butter ice cream, house-made peanut butter brittle or MISTA B's BROWNIE SUNDAE, featuring firefly's vanilla ice cream, fresh whipped sweet cream topped with caramel sauce or hot fudge.
If you like that smooth, creamy taste, the firefly BUTTERSCOTCH PUDDING, is right for you! Made with white chocolate and white chocolate macadamia nut cookies, it's truly delightful. If custards and mousse are more your style, we have you covered with our tropical COCONUT CRÈME BRULEE, featuring mango sorbet, toasted pistachio and fresh garden mint, or our MOCHA CAPPUCCINO MOUSSE, chocolate coffee mousse, sweet meringue, and almond biscotti.
For traditionalists, how about the WORLD'S BEST BANANA CAKE MADE BETTER? Our raved-about Banana Cake is back, and it's better than ever! Made with firefly's banana ice cream, sweet brandy butter and poached bananas, all we can say is you've gotta try it! Our PEACHES AND CREAM MARTINI is creamy and delicious. Sweet mascarpone cheese with white wine poached peaches, it's a true summer treat!
If you like to keep things simple, try an UPSIDE DOWN ICE CREAM CONE or a scoop of HOUSE-MADE SORBETS! All are made fresh, and flavors depend upon what fruits are fresh and available!
After-Dinner drinks are a wonderful dessert accompaniment, and we have several that we're fond of.
MIDNIGHT ESPRESSO Vanilla Vodka, Kahlua, Frangelico, Bailey's and 1 shot of Espresso
firefly MINT CHOCOLATE MARTINI Baileys Mint Chocolate, Godiva Liquor, and Vanilla Vodka
IRISH COFFEE Coffee, Irish Whiskey, and Baileys
BLACK MARTINI Vodka, Kahula, Espresso, and Cream
BAILEY'S & COFFEE Strong Coffee, with a shot of Bailey's and Whipped Cream
IRISH MUDSLIDE Baileys, Kahlua, Creme de Cacao & Ice Cream
firefly CHOCOLATE MARTINI Vodka with White or Dark Godiva Chocolate Liquor Rimmed with Cocoa and Sprinkled with Shaved Chocolate
Try one, try them all (but not all at once, please!). We know you're going to love them!

Music for our E.A.R.S.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, August 14, and then come out and support a great organization!
Firefly is hosting a family fund day from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. on the firefly lawn. We'll have live music, lawn games, a raffle and prizes, with all proceeds going to benefit the Effingham Animal Rescue Sanctuary (E.A.R.S.).
Boondocks, Friction and Matt Poss will be playing on the front porch, with sound provided by Samuel Music Company. We'll be cooking some great food, and Koerner's will be running some great beer specials. It's all to support
E.A.R.S.
furry friends - we hope you can make it!

EXTRA, EXTRA!
Just a reminder, that Thursday, August 5th, we're filming a commercial at the firefly.
Please note that every patron who enters the firefly tomorrow will need to sign a release.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

The prairie is beautiful, the water is lovely, and we think an evening on Lake Kristie makes it a perfect evening! Stroll through the garden or along the lake, play a game of lawn darts, or just sit back and relax. Whatever you fancy, come by and enjoy!
Sincerely, Kristie & Niall Campbell firefly grill

Prairie Basil-Lemontini...
our drink of the month!
Crafted in Benson,
Minnesota by a fifth-generation family of spirit makers and a co-op of
over 900 farmers, Prairie Vodka is exactly what we believe in! Micro-distilled exclusively from organic, #2 yellow
corn grown near the distillery on three family farms, the leftover
corn cobs are gasified to provide energy for the stills. Named
"Best New Vodka" by Food & Wine Magazine in 2009 and winner of the
Double Gold Medal at the 2008 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Prairie
is beautifully smooth on the palette with hints on melon and pear on
the nose. Distilled and bottled in limited quantities, Prairie is not
always easy to find, but is now available in the USA, Canada and soon in
Europe. Enjoy! Prairie is beautifully smooth on the palette with hints on melon..and when blended with a little bit of lemon, simple syrup and our fresh-from-the-garden firefly basil, well, it's truly out of this world! C'mon in and try one. As always, are drink of the month is specially priced at $7.

Join the blog!

He's blogging! Anyone who knows Niall knows that he has some unique perspectives and always has something interesting to say. Unfortunately, with all the time the kitchen requires, he doesn't have as much time as he would like to spend with our fireflies. So when someone suggested that he blog, we thought it was a great idea!
A couple of months later Niall warmed to the idea, and the firefly Blog was born. Niall and Mike Hagan, our bar manager, are manning the blog, which gives you little snippets into the world of the firefly. Check it out - firefly blog. We welcome your comments.

It's A Brew-ha-ha!
These beers are nothing to laugh about! Big Sky Brewing is a Montana brewery with a quirky sense of style. This craft brewery prides itself on not only producing fantastic craft beers, but on having fun while doing it. And the beer, well, let's just say that the names reflect that. Moose Drool (a brown ale that this write sampled last weekend), Slow Elk (an oatmeal stout), Trout Slayer (ale), Scape Goat (pale ale) Summer Honey (seasonal ale) and Big Sky IPA are just a few of the offerings, with seasonal specialties thrown in every now and again. They're fresh, they're funky, and we think you need to try them! So we're having a Big Sky Brewery Beer Dinner on Wednesday, August 25. Check out the menu on the website, www.ffgrill.com. |
