December Days...

Greetings!

"Why, she lights up like a firefly whenever you are around" - words of encouragement to George from his matchmaking mother, Ma Bailey in "It's A Wonderful Life".

Every December, surf the TV channels and your bound to find a showing of  Frank Capra's 1946 film.  Thought of as a holiday classic, it's really not a movie about Christmas, but rather a reminder.  A reminder that  each and every one of us touches the lives of others. For better or worse, every  person makes a difference. And through George Bailey, we see that people of good character and morals usually have an impact that is far greater than they realize. It is a movie that transcends times and generations, and its message is as appropriate today as it was in 1946.

Being in the food industry, it's easy to get distracted by things that go wrong. Systems that hiccup, plans that go awry, the occasional broken dish or service faux-pas.  Unfortunately it happens, and sometimes we forget that we, too, have an impact.  It's easy to get sidetracked and let the hustle and bustle of the season reign. So this holiday season our welcome is just as genuine but our smiles are a bit wider - we hope you see the firefly as a place where you can come in, relax, and just
enjoy yourself.

And speaking of enjoying, someone very close to us has been enjoying his new tree-stand.  Kudos to Dean for bagging firefly docka12-point, 290 lb. buck.  We think the glasses were the key to such a start to the season.  Now we're waiting to see whether he'll share the venison.

Tis the season - for holiday celebrations, gift certificates, office parties, luncheons and more.  Tis also the season for brussel sprouts (tender and sweet), pomegranates, cranberries, sea bass (exceptionally tender and soft this time of year), red cabbage (braised....delicious!), wild duck and venison.  We can't promise everything will be on the menu all month long - and we're still not sure that Dean will share - but we hope you stop by and enjoy some of the wonderful flavors, tastes and smells that mean December.

A Very Large Thank-You

firefly dockWe're trying to figure out where November went.  In between tours of the firefly, show evenings, off-site presentations, and Thanksgiving preparations, it seems like November has just disappeared. With upcoming holiday parties, catered events, kids returning from college,
and just general merriment, all indications are that December will fly by too!

So we'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of our firefly customers for making 2009 a wonderful year for us.  Our reputation continues to expand, our foothold in the community is firm, and we continue to grow and learn, all due to the continued loyalty and support of our firefly patrons.  From the bottom of our hearts we thank you for your encouragement, your patience, your kind words, and most of all, your patronage.  We are so blessed be a part of this community and to love what we do!

Thanks for your continued support of the firefly, and from all the crew, have a wonderful, safe holiday season!

Sincerely,

Kristie & Niall Campbell

We have a a great one for you this month!

The Grinch!

Nothing mean and nasty about this Grinch...it's actually sweet and sassy!  The sweetness of midori melon, the sass of lemon juice, and simple syrups combine to make a flavorful, festive (and yes, green) concoction!

It will give you something to WHOOT about, try one today!
