Ida Isaacs isn't a real grandparent yet, but she has more than 14 grandchildren as a Minnesota Foster Grandparent. Through an opportunity with Lutheran Social Services, Ida comes to St. David's Center three times a week to serve as extra eyes, ears and hands with the toddler children in our Early Childhood Education classrooms. | |

An Adventure in Relationships  Participants in the Adventure program, an after-school and summer program for youth ages 11 to 24 with special needs, hadn't had many opportunities to volunteer in the community until joining the program. A Playground for Every Toddler  There are many things to get excited about in our 50th year. St. David's Center toddlers will be especially thrilled with the opening of the first toddler playground in Minnesota integrating both inclusive and natural play elements in Minnesota this September.
Designed by Landscape Structures Inc., our new playground is custom designed with every toddler in mind. It will be built using "green" practices and will be integrated with the natural environment of Minnehaha Creek.
Help commemorate this occasion by making a donation and/or participating in our Demolition Day on August 14 and Community Build on August 28. And don't miss the playground grand opening at our Fall Festival on September 25. MORE INFO... |

Fall Festival: Celebrating 50 Years  How does St. David's Center kick-off 50 years of enriching the lives of children and families? With a free outdoor art and nature adventure for the whole community!
Our Fall Festival: Celebrating 50 Years will be bigger and better with the addition of a main stage that will include performances by: Tricia and the Toonies; Minnesota Zoo; Moose on the Loose author Kathy-Jo Wargin; and the Wildlife Science Center.
Plus, we've added an hour and a DJ for extra enjoyment for children and youth of all ages. Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 25 and invite your friends. You won't want to miss it!

High 5-0 the Cook
 Our 50th Anniversary Cookbook is complete and includes nearly 300 recipes from current and past St. David's Center clients, parents, staff and Board members. In addition, it features recipes from local chefs including the St. David's Center 50th Anniversary Cookie created by Mainstreet Bakery in Edina, and Butternut Squash Flan from Scott Pampuch, owner and executive chef at Corner Table in Minneapolis. Watch for opportunities to buy the cookbook at our 50th anniversary events, starting with our Fall Festival. And "thank you" to everyone who contributed! |
