Tips to Get Ready for the New School Year
From teachers and therapists at St. David's
Plan for the morning the night before. Have backpacks packed and ready to go; have kids decide on their outfit and set it out the night before. Parents can help with these chores as needed depending on the age of the child. Parents and kids can have fun planning a "first day of school breakfast" together too!

Fall 2008
Greetings!

Welcome to St. David's new Alumni Program. St. David's Child Development & Family Services has been a part of our family for 10 years. Our two boys are early childhood program alumni. I have been a volunteer for much of that time and have served on the Board of Directors for more than four years. The Community Relations Department recently developed an Alumni Program and I am thrilled to be a part of it as it gives me another way to stay connected to the agency and families that shared similar experiences to our own.

The Alumni Program fosters a sense of community by providing opportunities to reconnect with St. David's staff and other alumni families. The Alumni Relations Program Committee is organizing an "alumni homecoming" at the Fall Festival on September 27, a special invitation to the Gala on March 14, 2009 and other family-oriented events. Notices of upcoming events will be published in our quarterly alumni e-newsletter. The e-newsletter also will provide up-to-date information about St. David's and the many resources it offers that remain relevant to alumni families, including ongoing parenting seminars and tips from staff and other parents.  Feel free to forward this newsletter on to others.

If you would like to join the alumni committee or if you have suggestions for future e-newsletter articles, please email Melissa.

My family is so grateful to the St. David's staff for providing our boys with an excellent early childhood education.
Fall Festival BirdWe are excited to continue to support the agency through this new program and look forward to many alumni families joining us!

The Lynch Family: Six Children and 20 Years of Preschool at St. David's
Lynch Family PhotoWhen Steve and Julie Lynch's first child, Robert, was ready to start preschool, Julie asked their neighbor where she sent her child. The reply: St. David's. Based on her neighbor's recommendation, Julie enrolled Robert, and thus began the Lynch's 20-year relationship with St. David's.
