A Note from Ann

Dear Neighbors,

The hot weather this summer makes it hard to believe that August is just starting.  The watering restrictions and bans underscore our need to protect our water resources. Lake County and the Forest Preserve District have both worked on this issue for many years.  It was appropriate that Ryerson Woods Conservation Area of the Forest Preserve District was the site of signing of House Bill 4496 this past week.  This will pave the way for re-use of rain water and grey water in a safe manner.  The Forest Preserve initiated the discussion and worked with area legislators for the past 6 years.  We appreciate all the hard work by many people that resulted in the bill.

Property Assessments are being sent out earlier this year than last year.  I will keep you posted when your township is mailing them.

One benefit of the hot dry weather is that a number of construction projects are ahead of schedule.  More details on these below.

While the kids are getting ready to go back to school, there are still a number of summer activities in the forest preserves as well as many communities.

Remember that you can view the agendas and watch the meetings for both the Forest Preserve and the County Board online, any time!

Please let me know if you would like me to come and meet with your homeowner's association, scout or other group to discuss local or county issues.

Sincerely,

Ann

You Have a Choice on Electric Supply:
Understand Your New Options

Play video

Lake County residents have a choice on who provides the supply portion of their electric service and choosing a different electric supplier may be able to save you money. Any Lake County resident can choose to purchase their electricity supply from an alternative supplier. Essentially, this means you can shop for suppliers providing service in your area and compare prices, charges, other terms, and select a new supplier.  If you live in unincorporated Lake County, this option is available to you now. If you reside in a community that has pursued aggregation, your municipality has secured an electric supply plan and you can opt-in, or opt-out. If you opt-out, you can also shop around and choose an alternative supplier now. If you choose a different supplier, the only difference is a new price for electric supply on your bill. You will continue to call ComEd for outages, emergency services, and questions about your residential service. By shopping for electric supply, you may be able to save money, find suppliers that use green resources, or get different types of services.  In this 4 1/2 minute video, you can learn more.   You can also visit pluginillinois for detailed information on electric choice in Illinois.
