Audience Choice Award
Nominees Announced!
Theatrical Outfit currently in the lead for the Audience Choice Award

Every year, Atlanta audiences have a chance to recognize the whole season of a favorite professional theatre through the Audience Choice Award.

Votes have been logged so far for just three of our 17 participating theatres.  Have you made your choice yet?

Voting is simple, just make a tax-deductible donation of a dollar (or more!) to The Suzi Awards. Each dollar equals one vote for your favorite!  Come to the Awards Ceremony on November 8th to see who wins!

 Partner Spotlight

We have a great corporate partner in Tri-C printing, run by the super-friendly Bill Cole. They give excellent advice on the printing process and marketing possibilities and will happily answer all those questions you think are too simplistic to ask.

2010 Suzi Nominees
        14 Theatres share nominations

Nominee BadgeOnce again our Panel Judges have taken a whole season of live theatre and chosen the most outstanding designs, direction and performances in over 20 categories for Musicals and Plays.

This year we added a World Premiere category to the Suzi Awards, since so many of Atlanta's theatres are shepherding new work to the stage. Great productions from young playwrights and experienced teams alike are getting a special mention at the Awards Ceremony this year. Twyla Tharpe's Frank Sinatra-inspired dance story of couples in a nightclub went on after its Alliance run to play on Broadway. Ismail Khalidi's Tennis in Nablus, also at the Alliance, was the winner of the Kendeda Graduate Playwright Competition.

Alliance's two world premieres share the World Premiere category with the Actor's Express production of Sarah Gubbin's Fair Use, Douglas Tappin's I Dream, and Janece Shaffer's Brownie Points, produced at Theatrical Outfit.  Actor's Express Artistic Director Freddie Ashley came across Fair Use through the Kendeda Competition at the Alliance Theatre. I Dream,a musical about the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., was a natural for development and production in Atlanta, where composer Douglas Tappin now resides. Atlanta playwright Janece Shaffer's modern comedy Brownie Points, produced last year at Theatrical Outfit, rounds out varied category.  Shaffer was the recipient of last year's Gene-Gabriel Moore Playwriting Award for her play Managing Maxine.

Of course, many other exciting productions are represented in this year's Suzi Nominees - read the whole press release and see the full nomination list at www.suziawards.org
