Adactus achieves £1.5m of efficiency savings by adopting mobile technology.

Adactus Housing Group launched a three year business re-engineering programme in May 2009 to make the most of the opportunities for efficiencies presented by recent substantial growth of the Group. The programme, known as Adactus2012, was focused on six work streams. Two of these, to 'resolve more problems at first contact' and to 'create a more efficient DLO' had a great bearing on the Group's requirement for mobile technology.

Andy Marshall, Director of Asset Management says "Once we could introduce an appropriate system for managing remote operatives, we knew the target of £1m of savings was within reach".

By integrating and deploying 1st Touch software in unison with scheduling and existing back office systems, Adactus exceeded their £1m savings target by over £0.5 million.

New survey reveals 5 key mobile trends in Social Housing & Local Government.

A survey conducted by 1st Touch and partner Ryzex offers insights into the latest mobile device trends in the evolving UK Social Housing and Local Government markets.Surprising findings and five key trends were identified.

TREND 1: From the early adopters polled, 67% of the Local Government and Social Housing organizations surveyed have integrated rugged or semi-rugged mobile technology.

TREND 2: Early problems have been detected with the initial handheld units chosen, which were simply not rugged enough. A strong perception now exists that semi rugged or rugged devices can mitigate problems that arise as a result of deploying inappropriate devices in rugged environments.

TREND 3: Choosing devices from a phone contractor due to an existing contract often resulted in handheld computers that were inappropriate for the  working environment.

TREND 4: The majority of users have needed to replace failed, broken and discontinued devices between every 1 and 6 months.

TREND 5: 100% of second-generation users would consider upgrading to a more rugged device to maximise uptime.
