IBS customer Wakefield uses 1st Touch

Wakefield and District Housing (WDH) has chosen 1st Touch Mobile for property and land survey employees and plans to extend the technology across the enterprise.

WDH has responsibility for over 31,000 homes lived in by over 100,000 people and are the fifth largest housing organisation in England. With a wide range of housing types from sheltered housing to high rise communities and a £720 million improvement scheme running until 2012, the survey function is a key element of the WDH success story.

As an existing PDA solution used by the department was unable to integrate with WDH's Housing Management system, it was decided to identify a new mobile solution which had proven integration links to the back-office and which was flexible enough to allow electronic forms to be created internally.
Louise Muirhead, Senior Business Analyst at WDH felt that these features were a major factor in the decision to choose 1st Touch, noting:

"Having seen the system in use at a reference site visit we were impressed by the easy to use mobile application builder with a graphical interface that allows the design, creation and modification of forms, without having to return to the supplier and pay more. Ultimately, we can see how 1st Touch can be easily rolled out across WDH to areas such as responsive repairs, maintenance and inspections. This would help us achieve significant productivity gains and to improve efficiency right across the organisation."

Knowsley Housing Trust (KHT) is a progressive, not-for-profit, independent Housing Association, based in Knowsley, a vibrant and dynamic urban area of Merseyside, managing over 13,000 high quality homes at affordable rents.

KHT has a mobile workforce of over two hundred and twenty operatives. The business case for mobilising the workforce was overwhelming. An earlier project to introduce mobile working had met with mixed success and there had been technical integration issues.

KHT decided to look at the marketplace for mobile working again and selected 1st Touch Mobile, a solution that was well proven in the Social Housing market.

"We know from experience, that this can deliver a better level of service to our customers which is one of our key goals. Overall KHT expects to reap the rewards of reduced overall operating costs and increased productivity, with operatives being able to complete more jobs per day, travel less miles and  provide dynamic data to the management team direct from the PDA."
