Greetings!

Welcome from all of the camp staff of the Getting2Tri Foundation 2011 National Paratriathlon Training Camp.  We can't wait to meet you this Thursday evening at our Kickoff mixer for this year's event.  The weather gods have smiled on Atlanta this week and we are expecting truly fantastic weather that will bring clear skies and 80 degree temps in the afternoons.

Please take the time to go through this athletes' guide.  It will cover many of your questions but not all of them!  The purpose of this guide is to get you sufficiently packed for Atlanta, give you some basics on what to expect, and give you some tips to make your camp experience the best it can be.

We have just under 20 athletes for this year's camp in Atlanta.  And that's a great number for our staff as it allows for the best personal attention to you as possible!  We have some outstanding coaches, technical advisers, and volunteers all ready to put you FIRST this week!  They will give 100% effort and we only ask that you do the same in return.

IMPORTANT:  When you arrive to the hotel, look for our G2T CAMP COURTESY TABLE in the main lobby of the South Tower.  Please check into that table when you arrive.  COURTESY TABLE will be set up by 3 pm on Thursday.

Safe travels to Atlanta!

2009 Camp Alumnus Named Banquet Keynote Speaker
Dan Gade with Pres Bush
We are extremely pleased to announce Major Daniel Gade (US Army) as our keynote speaker for the G2T National Paratriathlon Awards Banquet in Atlanta on May 21st.  Dan is a 2009 alumnus of the G2T National Paratriathlon Training Camp and is currently completing his PhD school work at the University of Georgia.  Dan will be assigned to the United States Military Academy (West Point, NY), his alma matter, upon completion of his PhD where he'll serve on the faculty as a professor.

He has served as a platoon leader and a company commander, leading over 200 men in battle in Iraq in 2004 and 2005, where he was wounded in action twice and decorated for valor.  The second time he was wounded cost him his entire right leg.  Despite his disability, he remains on active duty in the US Army.

Dan has not let his injuries slow him down: since 2007, he has competed in triathlons and cycling events, and was the second-place finisher in his category at the 2009 ParaTriathlon National Championships in New York City.  In 2010, he won his category at Ironman Arizona, completing the 2.4-mile swim, the 112-mile bike, and the 26.2 mile run with just one leg.  Parts of his inspirational story appear in three different books, and he has been interviewed on national television several times.  He is currently training for the 2011 "Ride Across America" as a member of a four-man cycling team.  In the winter, he is an avid snow skier.

Dan loves using his personal tragedies and triumphs to motivate, inspire, and challenge young men and women, business leaders, and audiences of all types to a life of living for others, doing the harder right over the easier wrong, and developing character now so that triumph in life's inevitable hardships is possible.

Dan is the proud husband of an incredible wife and the dad of three amazing kids.
