We are delighted to welcome you to PYM Today Online, a new publication designed to strengthen communication, connections and relationships among everyone in our yearly meeting faith community.

 

PYM Today Online will be published monthly in addition to our twice-yearly printed journal, PYM Today. The emphasis will be on timely information about our Quaker faith and practice, news, activities and upcoming events.  We hope that you will enjoy receiving PYM Today Online!


PYM Today Online
is an electronic newsletter initially being sent to all households for whom we have an email address.  Please consider forwarding this issue of PYM Today Online to friends, family members and seekers - each of whom may subscribe to receive their own personal copy.  PYM Today Online is free to everyone who wishes to receive it.

 

A Message from the General Secretary
Over the last year, our Yearly Meeting has been coming to grips with a challenging financial situation. The individuals and committees charged with helping us work through these difficulties have have made a great deal of progress and I am confident that as a Yearly Meeting we will come through this storm a stronger, healthier, more vital Yearly Meeting.  Read the complete message from the General Secretary. 

 

News from Interim Meeting
Interim Meeting was held on Saturday, January 14 at Arch Street Meeting House.  We considered the Yearly Meeting's current financial situation and reaffirmed our long-standing commitment to support the witness of employees who conscientiously object to payment of taxes supporting military purposes, an expression of the Friends Peace Testimony.  Read more about  January Interim Meeting.
 
Friendly Households
FriendlyHouseholds 2012
The Friendly Households program invites Quaker households to live more lightly on the earth and to embrace opportunities for greater sustainability.  Please join us for a Forum on Saturday Jan. 28 at Friends Center. The featured speaker will be Stephen Chase, founder of the Master's program in Environmental Advocacy and Organizing at Antioch University.  Read more about the Forum at Friends Center.

 

We Can Do It Day!

We Can Do It Day is an opportunity for everyone who cares for our faith community to share skills, techniques and fellowship.  Please join us on Saturday, Feb. 25 for a day devoted to Healthy and Effective Committees. The program includes workshops, wisdom sharing, spiritual community, fellowship and childrens' programs all designed to help our committees respond to Spirit, care for members and effectively get work done. Called Session of Yearly Meeting
Feb. 11, 2012

Clerk Thomas Swain has announced a Called Session of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting to consider our yearly meeting programs and concerns.  Our current financial situation and efforts to better align our expenses with our income in support of Quaker faith and practice will be presented for worshipful discernment.

The Called Session will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012 at Arch Street Meeting House, Philadelphia, PA.  It replaces the regularly scheduled Interim Meeting for February.  Find out more about the Called Session of Yearly Meeting.

Junior Interim Meeting will be held concurrently for all children in grades K-5.  Childcare will also be available.  Find out more about Junior Interim Meeting.
