Of course they are all made in the dedicated Miss Roben's  allergen-free factory and are all gluten/dairy/soy/nut/egg + more FREE!

Hint of Honey cookie mix :
this versatile cookie can be made soft or crunchy and has a gorgeous flavour with a hint of honey (hence the name!). One bag makes 48 cookies.

Yellow Cake mix :
this is a great tasting basic cake or cupcake mix.
this one requires hard fat margarine or butter to work best (coconut butter & ghee are great dairy-free alternatives to use). If you need to use oil only, please try the chocolate or carrot cakes.

Savoury Biscuit/Dumpling mix :
These are a great alternative to bread rolls, flaky and buttery and perfect to have for breakfast with eggs. Or make into Dumplings and serve with casseroles, spaghetti sauces etc.

Sweet Sorghum flour :
A slightly sweet, nutty, medium grind grain that is made from 100% Texas grown sorghum. This is an excellent substitute for white or brown rice flour and for use as a generall all-purpose flour. It is packed with a whopping 10g of protein per 100g! You must try this one, it's one of my personal favourites and I use it everywhere!

Recipes

Here are some recipes using DariFree

Hot Chocolate
Ingredients:
4 cups water
1/2 cup DariFree original powder
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup baking cocoa
1/2 tsp vanilla

Method:
In medium saucepan, heat the water.
Stir in remaining ingredients and heat until just boiling.
Serve with marshmallows if desired.
Yield:
4 servings

OR if you have chocolate DariFree at home, it heats up beautifully for Hot Chocolate - simply pour into a mug and heat it up in the microwave for a quick and delicious winter drink.

Ersatz Yogurt
(from Special Diets for Special Kids II)

Ingredients:
3/4 cup DariFree powder
3/4 cup unsweetened pineapple juice
1/4 cup lemon juice
2 1/2 cups water
1/2 cup water mixed with 14 Tbs tapioca starch

Method:
Heat juice until very hot but not boiling and combine with DariFree.
Mix well to dissolve DariFree.
Pour mixture into a bowl and add the 2 1/2 cups water.
Heat in microwave for 4-5 minutes until very hot but not boiling.
Stir in the water + tapioca mixture.
It should thicken up immediately as you stir.
If not, heat another minute or so, stirring continuously.
Cool in the fridge for 24 hours.
If you use it before then it will be gummy.
You can stir in some fruit or jam or use as a dressing for fruit salad by thinning with a little juice just prior to serving.

note : I often have to add some extra tapioca to get the consistency I like, so experiment with it and dont' be afraid to add some more if you think it's too runny.

darifree can2008 - The Year of the Potato

The humble potato is very close to our heats here, being the base for DariFree, a unique potato-based milk alternative. Did you know the potato is being internationally recognised this year, with the UN declaring 2008 The Year of the Potato. This is to raise awareness of the Potato and its importance on a global scale for poverty & hunger.

The good old potato is the world's number 4 food crop and is grown all around the world. Potatoes are rich in carbohydrates, making them a good source of energy. They have a high quality protein content, rich in Vitamin C and a good source of potatssium.

For more fascintating potato facts or to read more about why the UN is focusing on potatoes this year, please visit the website www.potato2008.org

Don't forget that if you have any tips or stories to share I would love to hear from you, and we welcome any feedback any time - kris@gcfree.com.au
