Humanitarian Day Monthly

 HDM 2011

The Humanitarian Day Monthly (HDM) food program serves on average 300 participants a month, attracting volunteers from all ages and areas of southern California. During its April feeding HDM received volunteer and financial assistance from the USC Student Ansar for Partnership program. This gracious donation assisted HDM in feeding hundreds of homeless in need. The Coalition to Preserve Human Dignity also supplied hygiene kits, warm meals such as, spaghetti, lamb and rice. We also recieved sack lunches, chips and fruit. For more information email us at info@ilmercy.com.

ILM Civic Engagement Activty Update

Umar group April
"March showers bring April flowers" . The Spring has sprang, lots of events and activity for ILM. In March we met with the executive management of Latter Day Saints. For the past few years the Mormon Community have been active coalition members for Humanitarian Day. In a recent meeting both groups discussed goals and objections for solidifying our future humanitarian efforts.
In April, the South Coast Interfaith Council invited ILM to participate in a dialogue with members from Doha International Center For Interfaith Dialogue in Qatar.  Our own Naim Shah Sr. of Dawah 2000 is being featured in the movie documentary Lost-Found:The African American's Journey to Al-Islam. An epic documentary about the African American experience with early Islam in the United States (a must see). Founder Imam Saadiq Saafir is making rounds again, attending an USC event featuring his friend and colleague, Dr. Maher Hathout and Dr. Sherman Jackson. The Coalition to Preserve Human Dignity attended community organizer's LA Voice Pico: Leadership Dinner, a night of development, education and making intentions for local policy and civic rights. Masjid Omar Ibn Al Khattab held the 3rd Annual Civic Engagement meeting between the Muslim Community and the Los Angeles Police Department with Deputy Chief Micheal Downing and Imam Abdul-Kareem Hasan of the Bilal Islamic Center, a night of mutual engagement for religious and social-cultural understanding.
ILM Foundation sincerely thanks the Coalition to Preserve Human Dignity for their support. Also, special thanks to the Boeing Employees Community Fund for their generous grant towards the Humanitarian Day California Campaign.
