Speed Stacks at the Capitol
March 5, 2008
Greetings!

I usually send this little update to board members and staff of The Partnership but decided you might also like to know the latest Partnership news. As a Community Builder you have made a special investment in our work and thought you might like to hear from me on a more regular basis. If you don't want another email coming your way, please just let me know and I will take you off the list. If you would like to continue receiving this update I will keep on sending it your way!
Thanks Denny Ford
Fit Phelps Youth Learn Car Care
Denny and his staff at Denny Ford in Rolla recently volunteered their time and dealership to teach basic car care to the youth in our Young Parent and Employment Skills programs. Twenty-seven youth learned some great car care tips and even got to sit in the very fancy (and expensive) Ford GT - they were thrilled!
Special thanks also to the First United Methodist Church in Rolla. They let us use their facility for a meal and childcare for the children of our young parents.
What a great community we live in - everyone pitching in to make great things happen for the youth of our area.
Speed Stack Arrive
Fit Phelps Capitol Plays the Game
Speed Stacks are a great game that we will be introducing in area schools as part of our Fit Phelps program. Speed Stacks, when combined with a relay concept provide increased cardio-vascular health and hand-eye coordination development. In the picture you can see Kris Thompson, a great Partnership volunteer, setting up a speed stack challenge in the rotunda of the state capitol in Jefferson City.
We had fun introducing the 5:30 campaign (five fruits/vegetables and 30 minutes of exercise each day) and were able to test the speed stack ability of legislators, legislative aids, visitors, and staff. I hope you get a chance to try out this great game! Just ask Kris - you get hooked very quickly. (Look for Speed Stacks at our booth at the Business Expo in Rolla this weekend.)
Thanks for all you do for the Community Partnership. I hope you enjoy these notes - I look forward to sharing some more news with you next week as spring moves a little closer! Oh, and don't forget to turn your clocks forward this weekend.

Sincerely,
