I want to complement you on your excellent newsletter. I normally delete so many good newsletters because there just isn't enough time to read them all - but every time I start to scan yours, I find myself reading all the way to the end and am glad I did (even if we have no plans to travel in the near future). They always leave me feeling inspired and engaged. S.D. West Vancouver
I enjoyed the experience of dealing with you and have a picture in my mind of you as somebody gifted with the ability to attract people with your pleasant voice, and attitude of willingness to be of assistance and who knows, sometime I may be able to meet and talk to you in person.
I.N. Vancouver Island
I have never had a better experience when planning for travel. Christine has been an absolute pleasure to work with. She was extremely fast, efficient, and pleasant to deal with. There were times when we would send off an email and would get a response just minutes later! We would recommend her to a friend or family member in a heartbeat! In fact, we are already planning to book with Chris again. Thanks for the great work Chris! L.J. Calgary

After 16 years in Canada and 14 years as owner/manager of TravelBoecker my personal connections are extensive and my mailing list is far-reaching. With that in mind I created the B2B Referral List
Personally, I would rather give my custom to your highly recommended business, knowing that I am supporting a client, who in turn supports me. I'm going for the 'snowball effect' and invite you to contact me, if you are interested in adding your business to my "Business to Business Referral List".

September is RHINO MONTH!
Rhino horn demand from the Asian markets has increased to such degree that recent studies show more than 20 animals are slaughtered every month by poachers across the African continent. This is an alarming figure but the most concerning part is that we are losing rhino to poachers faster than the current population can reproduce.
Governmental organisations have recently made bold declarations to raise awareness of the situation and non-governmental organisations are continuing to call for stronger action against poaching.
We have aligned ourselves with the Botswana Rhino Relocation and Reintroduction Project, one of Botswana's true success stories. A Public Private Partnership, this project combines the efforts of Botswana's Department of Wildlife and National Parks (DWNP), the Botswana Government, the Botswana Defence Force (Anti Poaching Unit) and the private sector.
In 2001 the Botswana Government reintroduced of four White and four Black rhino to the Mombo area on Chief's Island in the Okavango Delta. A further 22 White rhino were subsequently introduced, and successful breeding has ensured there are an estimated 38 White rhino - and the four introduced Black rhino - living in the wild as a result of this project.
As time passed, two of the female White rhino made their way some 250 kilometres from the Mombo area and settled in the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park near the Leroo La Tau lodge. Through the Botswana Rhino Relocation and Reintroduction Project, arrangements were made to bring in a White rhino bull for hopeful breeding purposes. The bull was released into the wild in June 2008 and very quickly joined up with the two females. The project is currently focusing on raising funds to ensure the wellbeing of the existing population as well as to bring in additional animals, both Black and White rhino, to augment the current population.
Wednesday 22 September 2010 is Rhino Day; the WWF has declared September the Month of the Rhino, to highlight their increasingly dire situation in Africa. As a company TravelBoecker will support this occasion and the desperate plight of rhino. With the assistance of our supporters and clients, we hope that we will soon be able to impact the project even further.

'SPREAD THE SMILE' IN AFRICA
"The one thing that always makes African children smile is a good game of what we call soccer and they call football" says Stephen Allison, East African ex-pat and co-founder of the 'Spread the Smile' project.
Generally, Africa is not in great shape these days. We hear all the time about floods, droughts and disease up and down the continent. That being said, the children of Africa always seem to have the capacity to smile - even in times of adversity.
By donating Fair Trade Soccer Balls directly to children in Africa, the 'Spread the Smile' project is designed to offer a little more joy and happiness, and to give children in Africa something to really smile about. With a £12.50 (approx. C$20) donation you can help deliver a soccer ball to children in Africa, sustain more jobs in communities in Africa and increase health awareness!

'Spread the Smile' works with a small British charitable group called Alive & Kicking. A&K's mandate is to supply Fair Trade Soccer Balls to children in Africa. Their 'stitching centers' in Kenya and Zambia employ 50-100 local disabled men and women, who stitch together balls made of local leather, produced by a local shoe manufacturer. The balls are imprinted with health awareness messages, and are often used in tournaments, combined with health screening.
How can you get involved?
'Spread the Smile' makes it possible for anyone travelling to East & Central Africa to personally give a couple of Fair Trade Soccer Balls to children in orphanages and schools along the way. Our co-founder, Stephen has generously pledged to purchase a ball for every donation made. That way you get to give away two Fair Trade Soccer Balls for $20. Please ask Chris Boecker for details.
If you're not planning a trip to Africa soon, you can simply click on www.aliveandkicking.org.uk to make a donation online. Your ball will be distributed to a school, orphanage, refugee camp or youth project and you'll be sent information on who receives it.
The 'Spread the Smile' mission is to give children in Africa a chance to play and smile, and at the same time create job opportunities and help raise awareness of malaria, TB, HIV/AIDS and other serious disease. It's Win-Win-Win! |
