2009 Year of the Gorilla
These fascinating and highly vulnerable creatures are in
great danger of extinction, representing a difficult challenge to
humanity. They are a key species in the ecology of their forest habitats, which
regulate our global climate.

In March 2010 I am travelling to the Parc National des Volcans in Rwanda to catch a glimpse of the rare mountain gorilla, at home in a rich mosaic of montane ecosystems,
which embrace evergreen and bamboo forest, open grassland, swamp and heath. "In the heart of Central Africa, so high up that you shiver
more than you sweat," wrote the eminent primatologist Diane Fossey... For more
information contact Chris Boecker. Why not join me and visit the gorillas yourself!
