Dear Friends & Supporters:
What a September it's been!
Hot on the heels of our world premiere runs in August in Los Angeles and New York as part of DocuWeeks, in September we brought THE POWER OF TWO to Boulder, San Francisco, Richmond and Washington, DC, where the film played to large and enthusiastic crowds -- and won a Best Documentary Feature award!
Scroll down for more details about our adventures and what's to come in October!

Isa & Marc with the LADdy!
Labor Day weekend brought THE POWER OF TWO to the Life & Death Matters Festival in Boulder, Colorado, a new festival for filmmakers who delve deeply into the nature of the human journey. In addition to 30 international films, the Festival included 18 educational programs and 9 original plays. Best of all, THE POWER OF TWO received the award for Best Documentary Feature! Marc dubbed the statuette, hand crafted in bronze by a local artist, the "LADdy."

9/10 - Our San Francisco Premiere - Just Us And Over 1,500 of Our Closest Friends!

The Castro Marquee
The following weekend, THE POWER OF TWO had its Bay Area Premiere Gala at the legendary Castro Theatre in San Francisco. The Gala was a Special Presentation of Active Voice at the Mill Valley Film Festival, and was co-presented by the Center for Asian American Media. The film played to standing ovations from a huge hometown crowd of over 1,500 people across two screenings.

9/13 - UNOS + The Power Of Two = An Amazing Screening In Richmond
Andrew, UNOS's Lisa Schaffner & Marc at the Byrd Theatre
After a day of rest and recuperation, we were off again to the East Coast. Our first stop on our mid-Atlantic tour was Richmond, Virginia, where the United Network of Organ Sharing (UNOS) hosted a free community screening of the film at the grand Byrd Theatre. UNOS oversees our nation's transplant system; it develops and runs the information technology systems that match donated organs to those awaiting transplant. Needless to say, we were honored to have UNOS host the screening and so pleased to present the film to a large and diverse audience. We are also happy to have a real Virginia lunch at the Colony Club!

9/14 & 9/15 - The Power Of Two in D.C.
The Power Of Two DC Team
Our amazing month of premieres ended with two fantastic screenings in Washington, DC, one on Capitol Hill on September 14 and then a night of film and music on September 15 at the D.C. Premiere Gala, which was co-presented by the D.C. Asian Pacific American Film Festival.

TPOT team with Reps. Speier, Eshoo, Lofgren & Honda
We were honored to have FIVE Congresspeople join us at our Capitol Hill reception -- Reps. Judy Chu, Anna Eshoo, Mike Honda, Zoe Lofgren and Jackie Speier -- and offer their support for the film and the cause of increasing the number of organ donors. Georgetown transplant surgeon Dr. Joseph Keith Melancon added valuable insights to our post-screening Q&A that evening.
Ana and Isa with Drs. Collins and Koh
The following night, a large crowd at the legendary Avalon Theatre heard not just from Ana, Isa, Marc and Andrew during the Q&A but also National Institutes of Health Director Dr. Francis Collins and U.S. Assistant Secretary for Health Dr. Howard Koh, who are featured in the film. They also experienced live the power of the music in the film with musical performances by Sara Melson and Haroula Rose!
We marked the close of the first month of THE POWER OF TWO's launch -- it seems like so long ago that the film first screened publicly in L.A. on August 19! -- in blissful exhaustion with an amazing midnight Greek dinner.
