Dear Friends & Supporters:

Just a few weeks ago, THE POWER OF TWO returned from Madison, Wisconsin, where we followed the Stenzel twins and thousands of other recipient-athletes and members of the transplant community at the nation's largest gathering for the organ donation and transplantation community -- the 2010 National Kidney Foundation U.S. Transplant Games.  Thanks to all who supported us in Madison!

It's no wonder that thousands make a pilgrimage to the Games every other year; the zest for life that abounds there is undeniable.  It was an amazing place for the last major shoot of the film!

Continue reading for highlights from our Games experience and stay tuned in the coming weeks for more on our efforts to complete the film in 2010!
KICKING OFF THE GAMES: VIDEO-GRAMS & BAGPIPES
PowerStudioPowerStudio: Our multi-media booth and PowerStudio at the Games Expo was a tremendous success as we recorded over 100 "Video-Grams" in which transplant recipients, donor families, living donors, and transplant professionals shared their transplant miracles.  Thanks to our Expo sponsors Perkins Coie LLP, LifeStars, and the International Transplant Nurses Society.  Select Video-Grams will be featured online starting later this year so stay tuned!

Opening CeremonyOpening Ceremony: At the Opening Ceremony, after the powerful procession of the teams, living donors and donor families, in full regalia, Isa performed the Star Spangled Banner on bagpipes.  Using her transplanted lungs to play one of the most demanding wind instruments, she inspired the entire audience to sing along!

THE THRILL OF COMPETITION!

Team NorCal SwimmersSwimming: The competition was fierce at the UW Natatorium, as Ana and Isa won five medals in the pool! Ana took silver in the Women's 50 Yard backstroke and 100 Yard butterfly (age 30-39); Isa won a bronze in the Women's 50 Yard breaststroke (age 30-39); and together with teammates Lara Borowski and Nancy Lonhart, the twins took silver in the Women's 200 Yard medley for Team NorCal!

Relay RaceTrack & Field: While congratulating Isa for winning the women's 4 x 100 meter relay for Team NorCal with her teammates Lara Borowski, Kay Saunders and Tiffany Van Alst, we were also touched by the crowd's response to the last place runners. Director/Producer Marc Smolowitz recounts, "The Games are not about winning or losing, but just making it to the finish line."

Lung GatheringThe Lung Gathering: Over 40 individuals from the lung transplantation community (lung transplant recipients, loved ones, and even the oldest living heart/lung recipient in the nation!) met for the Lung Gathering. The Transplant Games is truly an opportunity for community building and a beacon of hope to all transplant recipients.
