Did you know that we have a new project on DonorsChoose?  We have already received close to 75 FREE hardbound books (an approx. $1,200 value) for our library through this wonderful charity - thanks to projects sponsored by Mrs. Rhodes (1st grade), Mrs. Bernard (2nd grade), and Mrs. Metcalf (3rd grade).  DonorsChoose is an on-line charity that connects potential donors from across the United States to public schools based on an individual classroom project.  A donor can give as little as $1 to any project, of their choosing, and all contributions are tax deductible.  You may have seen DonorsChoose featured on Oprah recently in her "Favorite Things" episode.  During this show, she gave each member of the audience a giftcard to DonorsChoose.

 

Please search for Launch Our Library (sponsored by Mrs. Surrett-1st grade), on the DonorsChoose website (donorschoose.org).  This project is designed to obtain new hardbound books for our media center and has just been selected for the DonorsChoose "Double Your Impact" program.  As a part of this program, funds by each donor are matched by a corporate sponsor to fund

the project in half the time! Thanks to the Leon and Sandra Levine Foundation as the generous corporate sponsor in our case.
