Dialogue Report
Thank you to all of the parents who attended the dialogue with the director sessions last week. Each session was marked by spirited discussions about many topics. For those of you who were unable to attend, I am happy to provide this brief summary of the discussions.

In general, the one topic that was raised at every session was our foreign language program. Questions and comments ranged from expectations as students progress from year to year and how we assess that progress to the proposed study abroad that is being considered for the coming summer.

Other topics by level were:
  • Discoverers - technology integration into the curriculum, sweets on the snack cart, more extra-curricular activities for our youngest students
  • Investigators - measuring intellectual growth, rigor of the curriculum in Investigators II, teacher qualifications and evaluation, policy making
  • Apprentice Scholars - methods of differentiation, health education program, structure of the middle school next year with an added teacher
We will be doing a second round of meetings for parents in January. The topic will be technology.

Some of our parents expressed an interest in discussing the individual testing results of their children. We are willing to meet with you about the topic of growth as demonstrated in the testing information we have. However, we request that you plan to do this at some point during the summer. We have more flexible time for these types of in-depth discussion when school is not in session.

Other News and Notes
