The quiet in the school office is pervasive - and that's a good thing because there are many things to get done.
- Student report cards are available in the school office. The report card packet also contains the relevant testing information that we have collected throughout the year. Parents who paid the mailing fee will have reports cards mailed. If you have any unpaid invoices at the school, or your child has lost books, then the report card will be held until all of these fiscal matters are taken care of. The school office is open from 9:00am - 4:00pm daily. We will be closed from June 29 through July 6.
- Facility News - We continue to negotiate the terms of a loan for our purchase of the building at 5225 77 Center Drive. With the very successful campaign to fund our equity portion of the loan request, we move into the next positive steps of this process.
- Board of Directors Annual Meeting - was held June 22 at the school. Evan Kettler, board member since 2004 and the board chair since 2005, and Tanya Joseph, the board treasurer since 2006 completed their terms and vacated their positions. We are grateful for their years of service to the board and for their dedication to the school. The budget for 2009-2010 was adopted, and new board members were elected.
- Class Lists - will be posted in the Documents section of the school website on Thursday, June 25. Students are placed in classrooms by a random selection process that attempts to maintain a gender balance in each grouping. No students are assigned to particular teachers. Once a group has been formed, the group is assigned to a classroom teacher. With the excellent staff at the school, you can be assured that your child will receive the best instructional opportunities offered for highly gifted children.
- Staff News - We regret that Traci Schneider will not be at the Scholars' Academy next year. Traci was a teacher with Discoverers II and had completed her second year at the school. She has just informed us that she will be unable to continue at the school due to family considerations. She was a valued member of the staff and we wish her well.
- Keeping In Touch - the best way is to check the "What's New" page of the website. New postings will be listed there with information about where to find the news. In addition to the Class Lists, we will be posting a variety of calendars and other notices about school happenings.
- What Is Happening in the Office This Week - We are completing all of the year-end reports to the Department of Public Instruction; transcript and record requests for our graduated eighth grade students are being processed and mailed; interviews for prospective first grade teachers are being conducted; end of year processes for the state mandated student information management system are being run; the school schedule for the 2009-2010 school year is being finalized; and orders are being prepared for teacher materials and school equipment.
