Black Lagoon Health Risks - Although authorities are "cleaning" the area, there are some serious risks to anyone swimming in the ocean from Punta Marquez to Cabo. The brown current will take about two months to thoroughly dissipate, so all swimmers and surfers are at risk for ear eye, throat and intestinal infections. According to a local Doctor we should wait at least 40 days from the date of the May 8th spill until June 17th to go back on the beach (within 2 kms N and S of the sight) or in the Pacific ocean. The same Doctor has seen an increase in ear and eye infections as well as bacterial intestinal infections since the spill. Protect yourself and you loved ones! - Anonymous
Declaring Stuff - Last year, we brought our Jeep YJ to the Baja and have left it there for our future use and enjoyment. It came with four brand new, big fat tires already mounted on rims and tires, but we didn't have the room to bring them along. This year, I'd like to bring these four down to Pescadero lashed to a rack o n the back of our 5th wheel. We generally enter at Tecate, passing through the "Nothing to Declare" lane.
