The GO-GIVER
by Bob Burg & John David Mann
The Go-Giver tells the story of an ambitious young man named Joe who yearns for success. Joe is a true go-getter, though sometimes he feels as if the harder and faster he works, the further away his goals seem to be.
And so one day, desperate to land a key sale at the end of a bad quarter, he seeks advice from the enigmatic Pindar, a legendary consultant referred to by his many devotees simply as the Chairman.
Over the next week, Pindar introduces Joe to a series of "go-givers": a restaurateur, a CEO, a financial adviser, a real estate broker, and the "Connector," who brought them all together. Pindar's friends share with Joe the Five Laws of Stratospheric Success and teach him how to open himself up to the power of giving.
Joe learns that changing his focus from getting to giving--putting others' interests first and continually adding value to their lives--ultimately leads to unexpected returns.
Imparted with wit and grace, The GO-GIVER is a heartwarming and inspiring tale that brings new relevance to the old proverb "Give and you shall receive."
I highly recommend this book and especially for those who are not book readers. This book can be read cover to cover in one sitting. If you prefer, an unabridged audiobook version is available.
I read this about a year and a half ago and just reread it a few days ago. It is a powerful reminder the each of us has what it takes, we only need desire, awareness and heart.
Since reading it, I have given several copies to my team. Perhaps you will feel that strongly about it as well.

Transonite (R) Composite Truck Bodies |
Transonite (R) is a light weight, high strength, extremely durable composite panel. Transonite (R) is a pultruded 3-D, reinforced composite "sandwich" consisting of fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) laminates and a foam core. The top and bottom face skins are supported by and tied together with through-thickness fibers giving Transonite (R) its unique structure.
Among many other applications such as bridge decking, industrial mats, rail car walls, floors and roofs, Transonite (R) has many benefits when used in truck body manufacturing. Among those benefits are:
-
High Strength and Lower Weight. This translates to higher payloads and lower transport costs.
-
Corrosion Resistance. They do not rust and are not susceptible to oxidation.
-
Durability. Composites are resistant to fatigue and made of highly durable materials.
-
Ease of Repair. Small repairs can be easily accomplished using a fiberglass repair kit.
-
High Insulation Values. Testing has indicated high insulation properties compared to standard truck body materials.
-
Smooth Sides. Company decals and logos appear smooth and clear on Transonite (R) panels.

Road Service Dream Truck by Scelzi Enterprises |
Scelzi Enterprises was kind enough to send me some photos of some interesting jobs they have done. Thank you, Scelzi! As I was looking through hundreds of photos, this unit caught my eye. It is absolutely unique and I have never seen anything quite like it. It was built for AAA Road Service for Galpin Ford in Southern California. They must love this truck! What I think is interesting besides the color, is the way the boxes are designed, especially the ones on top. This is a serious mechanics truck. Look at the full house of drawers on the curbside including large size drawers. Look at the boxes on top. Get up in the back of the bed and you've got a long box on each side and one across the front of the bed. Add the fuel tank, welder bottle compartment, great work extension on the rear and you're in the luxury category. But wait. . . there's rope lighting throughout the entire body include each box (notice around the edge). Now, with a couple of flood lights they are 24-hour ready! Then, add a little bling in treadbright aluminum, crafty workmanship, thoughtful detail throughout and you have a high quality, anyone-would-be-proud-to-sell-it Scelzi body. I can't wait to get to look at all the photos Scelzi has sent. See what Scelzi Enterprises can build for you. Call them at 800-858-2883 and visit their new website at www.seinc.com. |
CargoMAX True Fiberglass Van Body |
This is the CargoMAX fiberglass van body and I got to see it in person and take these shots at the GM Partners In Excellence event in Dallas, Texas last month. Of all the trucks I saw at this event, this was the most exciting to me.
I've seen other "raised roof" additions to cargo vans and other composite bodies attached to the cutaway chassis as this one is. Yet, none have compared to this unit. I will tell you what I thought was awesome about this body:
-
It is true fiberglass technology and is 5 times stronger than aluminum, yet has the same approximate weight.
-
The shape. This body is sculpted to make it look like it belongs on this truck. Look at the last photo shown here and see how the beltline is carved inward and the carved lines at the top of the roof. Awesome job of making this flow and look great.
-
Stand up height even under the roll up door is superior. I am 6' 3" and had plenty of space standing inside.
-
The extremely lightweight body will have far less roll tendencies than the steel bodies we have seen on the road.
-
The durability of the fiberglass construction is off-the-chart great. It takes a beating and doesn't even show a scratch. Amazing strength and durability.
-
I absolutely love the side door option. (option? why and option?) The doors are unequal width and I think that works extremely well. Very interesting engineering here.
-
Seamless skylight is standard and really helps light up the interior.
-
Smooth sides for superior graphics.
-
Aerodynamic design saves fuel by offering less wind resistance.
-
5-year warranty against defects.
-
The body is molded in one piece!
The unit shown is a 14' dually model on a GM 4500 Cutaway chassis. A single rear wheel and dual rear 12' model is available as well. There are a list of options to upfit the van as needed for each customer with shelving units, back-up camera, window package, tie downs, wall units and more. They have a small number of units available for rapid delivery. Call them today at 888-601-2629. |
Who's Says You Can't Have Fun At Work |
This radical service body was shared with me by Mike Soich of Knapheide Manufacturing through the Knapheide Truck Equipment Southeast in Miami, Florida. Of course the red paint is always a hit with me, but look at the awesome wheels and tires that you would not normally see on this kind of truck! What a ride this makes! This unit was built for Master Mechanical Services Inc. and I am sure it is the star of the fleet. Nice job and thanks for the look. |
Stiles Field Mechanic's Body |
I was visiting Stiles Truck Body's website a few days ago and saw this tasty body and I immediately wanted to order one for stock. There is something special about it that I find very interesting. One is that it is similar to what the west coast commonly calls a contractor body except it doesn't have a rack. Two, it is a lot like a low pro service body in that the top of the top box comes to the bottom of the rear window, including the tailgate, sans the wheel skirts. Three, is that it is like a combo body with the extended work platform on the rear. In addition, the base of it is a steel deck flatbed, so you have all that usefulness. I love the fact it is painted black. It just looks great on this truck. I understand in talking with Scott Stiles of Stiles Truck Body & Equipment, that this model which they call a Field Mechanic's Body, though commonly built for a 60" CA is available for other cab to axle dimensions. The photos shown above is a 60" CA on a Ford Super Cab dually. He states that it is has proven to be a very popular body in the Central Valley region of California for farm mechanics and light construction mechanics. Here are specs on this body:
- 3/16" Stiles diamond plate deck
- Knapheide top side and under body tool boxes
- 1/4" plate drop work deck, 16" wide
- Knapheide slam type 12" tail gate
- Oxygen/Acetylene gas bottle storage drop well notched into the street side front
- Bar & tool storage compartment incorporated into the deck
- Chain box
- Rigging holder
- 100 gallon bulk storage tank

Brutus Bodies Crane Bodies |
The more I visit Brutus Bodies website, the more I like. It is without a doubt, the best body company website I have seen to date. It is extremely useful and comprehensive. In addition, they offer a wide range of products and do a large number of aluminum bodies.
Shown above is a small selection of some of the sweet crane bodies Brutus Bodies has done. Check out more at their website: www.brutusbodies.com. |
Drawer Heaven From Brutus Bodies |
Is this drawer heaven, or what!? Awesome just doesn't seem like a strong enough word! www.brutusbodies.com |
Load Grief |
Overloading trucks began pretty much with the advent of the truck and it continues to this day.
The scary part of this is that rack that everything is tied to is bolted into sheet metal. . . I love the spare tire hookup. This would never fly in the US. |
