"IF THE GRASS IS GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE... It's probably getting better care. Success is not a matter of luck or circumstance. It's not a matter of fate or the breaks you get or who you know.

Success is a matter of sticking to a set of commonsense principles anyone can master. In Lead the Field Earl Nightingale explains these guidelines: the magic word in life is ATTITUDE. It determines your actions, as well as the actions of others. It tells the world what you expect from it. When you accept responsibility for your attitude, you accept responsibility for your entire life.

Earl Nightingale -- the "Dean of Development" -- offers you a treasure trove of uplifting and insightful information like:

* The importance of forgiveness

* How "intelligent objectivity" can improve your professional life
* The usefulness of constructive discontent

Now it's your turn to bring positive changes to your own life, changes that will allow you to lead the field yourself!

About the Author:

In 1956, Earl Nightingale recorded his essay The Strangest Secret. This recording became the first spoken message ever to receive a Gold Record by selling over one million copies. This triumph led Earl and his business partner, Lloyd Conant, to form Nightingale-Conant Corporation, a company dedicated to helping others achieve personal success. Earl Nightingale created and performed more than 7,000 daily broadcasts for his popular radio program, "Our Changing World," wrote and starred in many television programs, and was awarded the prestigious Golden Gavel Award from Toastmasters International."

For under $20 at Amazon.com, you can own this awesome audio. I have listened to it several times and it always inspires me with a "you can do it" attitude. It never hurts to get an extra dose of that!

AutoCrane Articulated Cranes

Auto Crane Introduces Full Line
of Articulating Cranes

Tulsa, Oklahoma-Auto Crane Company (autocrane.com) is pleased to introduce its line of 18 articulating cranes, being developed and manufactured to enhance the company's existing line of service cranes.

Auto Crane Product Manager Kyle Whiteis praises the company's unique approach to the
cranes' design. "The controls on each side of the crane are identical in their positioning," Whiteis says. "What your right hand controls on the driver's side of the crane is what it controls on the passenger side. In some other models, hydraulic design dictates that the controls mirror each other, which can create confusion. That's not the case with these cranes."

The new articulating cranes have a lift capacity ranging from 31,800 to 332,700 ft/lbs. and are designed for use where space is at a premium, allowing for more flexibility in small spaces. "The geometry of these cranes allows them to be used in more confined environments," observes Whiteis. "Articulating cranes are very popular overseas, where roads are often more narrow and operating space is limited."

The articulating cranes are constructed of high-tensile-strength steel-lighter in weight than traditional steel-providing for a lighter, more compact crane, and improving payload capacity of the truck carrying the crane. The cranes come standard with a full two-year warranty, and are designed for a variety of industries: mining, heavy construction, field service, railroad, propane, forestry and refuse.

Auto Crane Company, celebrating its 50th year in business in 2008, is a world-class
manufacturer of electric and hydraulic cranes, crane service bodies, and accessories.

Auto Crane markets its products in more than 65 countries, worldwide. www.autocrane.com
Another Sweet Red Truck

I was just looking at a bunch of photos and admiring the colored trucks. I had forgotten about this sweet rig. This is a Harbor CraneMaster body with an 18" work platform, outriggers and a very nice array of drawers. You have to be pretty tall to look in the upper drawers, but it sure looks great. I especially like the fact the drawers are painted the same color as the body. Many times that is not the case. The drawer in the horizontal compartment may be the best thing.

This gorgeous Dodge was put together by Cascade Truck Body in Eugene, Oregon. These folks build some great looking pieces! Check out their very informative and effective website at www.cascadetruckbody.com and see more great bodies, or give them a call and order one for yourself at 541-342-5317.

Great Use of SRW Cutaway by Wulff Electric

Ryan & I had an opportunity to talk with Rich Wulff, President of Wulff Electric in Vacaville, CA today. He gave us a tour of his expansive, modern facility. It is large enough that he can park all of his trucks inside at night--and he has quite a number of trucks!

One of his trucks was in the shop area, so I asked if I could take some shots and show it off a bit because it was setup very nicely. He has a fleet of trucks and many of them are this exact model and all are setup the same way in the rear area.

Take a look at the inside of the cab before we get to the back. He has added a center seat with a fold-down wide armrest which makes the interior very useful even when the normal of only one is in there. This is a Chevrolet single rear wheel cutaway van that has been upfitted with a 10' (it is very slightly shorter than this) FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plywood) low height van body from Supreme Corp. The unit has a roll-up rear door offering full width access to the rear area.

I especially love the way the Adrian Steel commercial interior storage system is set up. It has a lot of drawers, a small workbench and shelving along the streetside. This is so nicely done. I love the choices of the pieces they have included. It is very useful. On the curbside, there is some wood framed sections to house two ladders. Note that the ladder slots are angled to make it easy to slide the ladder out. There are three compartments for ladders and space on the side for another as shown. In the slots are a 10', an 8' and a 6' ladder and on the side is a 4' ladder. There is space for pipe and other cargo as well. The front bulkhead has been notched slightly to accommodate 10' pipe since the van interior is just shy of that mark. [That's a hint, Supreme. . .]. For the things they don't need as quickly and easily, there is a little bit of storage in the small attic area.

Because the body is made of FRP, it makes it easy to add graphics to the body and it appears that Rich has taken advantage of that in a very tasty way. This is an excellent example of this kind of unit in real life action. Considering the compact size of this truck, I think Rich has done a great job of making it do a lot of work. Rich says that his truck sales guy, Dave Estacio of Hanlees Chevrolet takes extremely good care of him. Thanks Rich for the opportunity to see your facility and to see this great truck!

TruckCraft Metro Makes Your SRW Rock!

I love looking at TruckCraft products. They have so many interesting and even unique items that serve a lot of people around the country. They have a network of 135 dealers in 160 locations to serve customers coast to coast. Since the headquarters is in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, they have more distributors east of the Mississippi. Nonetheless, I saw TruckCraft bodies on the lot of a Ford dealer in Washington, so I know they get around.
This is a very interesting product.

I'll let TruckCraft tell you the news:

"The new TruckCraft Metro will convert your single rear wheel pickup to a handy, aluminum dropside flat with over 56 sq ft of enclosed deck space that can be accessed cleanly by a forklift from any side. A typical 8 ft pickup box has around 32 sq ft of flat deck that can only be accessed from the rear, over the tailgate. The METRO's extruded 6061 T6 alloy dropsides and tailgate are instantly secured with rugged, load-rated latching hardware that allows a completely open access with no corner posts.

Need a dump truck? The Metro can easily be converted to a sharp, three-way dump with the optional double acting hoist kit. That's right - switch to dump left, right or rear in a matter of seconds by re-positioning two tool-free pull pins.

Other options include: A canvas cargo top complete with sliding bows; a set of 36" high hinged screen sides; a rear ladder rack, and a center belly pan for ramp storage.

Ask for the TruckCraft METRO when you order your next truck, or when you need more from your existing truck.

Features:
  • Flat Floor- No edge to hang up material
  • Bulkhead has window protection, hand grips, and goalposts on top for securing long loads
  • Removable 16" anodized drop sides
  • Removable 16" anodized tailgate
  • Side access steps
  • 6 recessed S.S. tiedowns
  • Marker lights, LED, with harness
  • Tailboard with LED STT, license plate lights & harness
  • Floor, rubrails, tailgate, dropsides, stringers constructed of 6061-T6 heat treated alloy aluminum
  • ICC bumper with class III hitch
  • White TruckCraft logo mudflaps
  • Mounting brackets for 2009 Ford, Chevy, or Dodge (must specify)
Options:
  • Three way dumping hoist
  • 36" high hinged screen sides
  • Belly pan for ramp storage (not available w/ hoist)
  • Rear ladder rack
  • Canvas top kit
  • Fold down step for sides and/or tailgate
  • TC-130 D-ICER adapter kit"

I think this is an awesome product well suited for light duty work and looking great in the process. The lightweight aluminum body is still super strong--just look at the underside photo! And, best of all: TruckCraft appears to be quality all the way. What I have seen has demonstrated this. We reviewed their gorgeous Zeus Aluminum Dump a short time ago. Here's the link to that piece: Zeus Dump.

You can reach TruckCraft at 717-375-2900. Check out all their offerings at their informative website: www.truckcraft.com.

CM Truck Beds - Great Display - Great Selection

This was one of the best displays that I saw at the NTEA Work Truck Show. It was so interesting how CM Truck Beds got so many bodies to show off in a relatively small space. As you can see in the photos, they did that without having a truck attached to them. I think they did an outstanding job of displaying these trucks and even having them have the appearance of being on a chassis with the lights lighted, polished up and sweet looking. Great job CM!

They also make some great trailering bodies and have several standard models to give each owner something that is right for them. I think my favorite is the TM model which has a lot of storage and looks a little like a very modern service body. I love the aluminum flatbed at the top of the photo array.

This company also manufactures a wide selection of trailers. In addition, they have some very nice websites. Check out the truck bodies at www.cmtruckbeds.com. You can catch a link to their trailer site or go to www.cmtrailers.com.
