Happy Thanksgiving!
Greetings!

Most of us are busy people, and have frequently asked the question: "How on earth am I ever going to do everything I need to get done because there simply are not enough hours in the day?" Unity minister Rev. Robin Reiter suggests that, since the Universe always responds, we should ask our questions in the most expansive possible way, then shift our focus in that direction. I decided to shift my question to, "How can I double the amount of leisure time I get to enjoy? What would having twice as much free time feel like?" In almost the same instant that I asked the question, I received my answer.

In fact and in Truth, we already enjoy an infinity of moments. Each moment is ours to enjoy - or not. Each moment is ours to claim as Good - or not. Each moment presents another opportunity to be blessed by what is - or not. Each moment is another opportunity to savor the boundless richness of our Divine Nature - or not. Contained within the gift of each present moment is the fullness of the Presence of God. We get to choose whether we live in awareness of that Presence - or not.

As we remember to shift our focus from lack (of time, of money, of companionship, etc) to the Truth of this amazing Universe, we claim the experiences that we wish to have. Emmet Fox called this practice "The Golden Key". Stop focusing on the perceived problem, and see instead the glory of God. See instead that Infinite Field of Pure Potential which is the Truth of Life, which is God.

I can choose to be glad and rejoice in this perfect moment, this perfect "day" that the Christ of my consciousness has created. Right here, right now, I can not only instantly double my free time, but I can triple it, quadruple it, infinitize it! We are limited in our enjoyment of time only by the opinions and judgments we choose to place upon it. "Leisure" is defined by Dictionary.com as "Unhurried ease...freedom from the demands of work or duty, free or unoccupied". If I resent what I am doing, if I am constantly feeling the pressure of an endless to-do list, then I am not experiencing freedom and unhurried ease. If I choose to remember to bless each moment and the work that I do in that moment, then I am truly free, and at ease. When we allow ourselves to be at ease, no matter what we happen to be doing, we are free.

Whether we work for ourselves or someone else, whether we earn a paycheck outside the home or not, the work that we do blesses us and blesses others. We each have work to do, and regardless of how insignificant or meaningful it may seem on the surface, what is important is the quality of meaning that we give to it. We can do our work in resentment or we can work with love and care.

When we look at our work as a channel through which the blessings of Sacred Source flow, we receive the gift of knowing that we are doing that which is ours to do, and that we are fulfilling our own sacred mission by choosing to focus in the direction of our spiritual growth. Work then ceases to be an endless to-do list and becomes an opportunity to experience the freedom of doing what we are most called to do in this perfect, present moment. Just as there are an infinite number of moments available to us, there are an infinite number of channels of God-Goodness available to us. As we focus on the Good we desire, those channels come into focus, and through the harmonizing power of God-Love that we are, we attract ourselves to that which will most bless us.

We have infinite opportunities to recognize God at work in our lives. As we move into the holiday season, I invite you to look at your own to-do list. If you realize that there are things on that list that do not serve you or others, perhaps you might consider whether they are actually necessary. Sometimes we think we need to do things simply because we've always done them. The work of Spirit always blesses everyone involved- and that includes you! When you know that the work before you is yours to do, bless it. Hold it in your heart as sacred. Allow yourself to experience each moment as perfect and unhurried.

As we live more and more from awareness of the wonder of God within our lives, it seems that any response other than gratitude is impossible. I am blessed by the work that I do, and I am thankful. You are a very, very special part of my life, and I am thankful for you. Your willingness to live your life based on the Truth that you know is the most precious gift you can offer. On this day of Thanksgiving, we also remember the work of all of the teachers who have gone before us, and allow that feeling of gratitude and appreciation to radiate forth from us. We are especially thankful for the work done by our Elder Brother and Way Shower, Jesus.

The best way for us to express our thankfulness is to live our lives from the Truth of what we are, and live each moment as though we really believe what Jesus said in John 14:12:

"Very truly, I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do and, in fact, will do greater works than these..."

Rich and abundant blessings to each of you!

Nita
