Please mark your calendar- our Good Friday service will be held on Friday, April 22nd at 12:00 noon.This meditative service will focus on the final teachings of Jesus before he made his Great Demonstration. Our Easter service will be held at 10:30am on Sunday, April 24th, followed by our usual end-of-the-month potluck.

Can we really create a new heaven and earth?

Could it really be true that your work here is to help establish a new consciousness, a new heaven and a new earth? If you're like me, hearing something like that can sound fairly overwhelming. I'm having a hard enough time getting my taxes done. How can I possibly accept responsibility for helping to establish a new heaven and a new earth?
If you've been following along with either the 2011 Lenten study book or Fillmore's "Keep a True Lent", you have no doubt experienced change in your life. As I have shared before, this is the third year that I have focused my own practice on Keep a True Lent, and each year I find new wisdom within its covers. Each year I find that something new is unfolded within me. We travel this journey alongside each other- what you do affects me and what I do affects you and what we all do affects all of us.
Consider this quote from Helen Keller:
"I long to accomplish a great and noble task, but it is my chief duty to accomplish humble tasks as though they were great and noble. The world is moved along, not only by the mighty shoves of its heroes, but also by the aggregate of the tiny pushes of each honest worker."
Over the past few weeks, we've looked at several "tiny pushes" that we can each take. Determine to look for the good and express gratitude regularly. Be willing to think the best of yourself and others, be willing to release those thoughts and practices that do not serve you. Practice forgiveness- of yourself and of others. Invest time daily in Silence. Give generously of your time, your talent, your treasure. Behave honestly and act in alignment with your Truth. Do not allow the magnitude of the "great and noble task" to discourage you from making the "tiny pushes" that create transformation.
Those tiny pushes will ultimately create a new heaven and a new earth. And each time you pray, each time you say, "thank you", each time you speak kindly, each time you are true to your highest understanding of Truth, you will have done your work. For that, I thank you.

"The Development of the Unity Movement"
continues through April 27, facilitated by Nita. We'll be exploring not only the history of our teachings, but how these teachings remain relevant and useful in today's world. Unity has claimed an intention to honor its calling as a healing influence in the world. What is your calling? What is yours to do in the evolution of the Unity movement?
"The Christ in the Bible" will be our next class, starting in early May. We'll be examining the Christ idea as taught in the Bible, as well as the meaning of the Christ to each of us in our everyday lives. If you've been curious about how the Bible might become relevant to your life, consider coming along on this journey with us. You will be assured good conversation and some challenging thoughts! The required text is the Bible- and if you don't have one, we'll give one to you! Ask Nita if you're curious.

Change is not easy. It is a much easier thing to simply keep doing what you have always done. Change can be scary. Change can look overwhelming. Simply by remaining open and receptive to a fuller understanding of Truth, you are inviting change. If it sometimes seems that no one cares or understands how difficult change can be, know that you are a part of an entire community dedicated to empowering change. Together, we truly can create a new heaven and earth!
Once again... breathe, pause, and know the Truth: YOU are strong, positive, powerful,
wise, loving, fearless, free spirit!
