"Forgetting the things that are behind, I realize I am strong, positive, powerful, wise, loving, fearless, free spirit.
I am God's perfect child."

| Greetings! |
We're in the third week of Lenten practice.
As you read this, I will be at Unity Village. As I write this, it is 2:00pm Monday, my second day at the Denver airport, wondering when I'll actually arrive at the village. Non-resistance and patience are the lessons I am living at this particular moment... It is good to know that I will have actually boarded a plane by the time this email goes out. [update: I ultimately arrived at the Village early Tuesday evening, and finished the rest of this message after my arrival.]
Those of you who were at church on Sunday know that my lesson was centered around using our various faculties to claim the blessings present when we find ourselves in circumstances that are not what we would have chosen. When I realized that I was right there in the middle of my own Sunday lesson, it seemed like a good idea to investigate something that I was in short supply of: patience.

| Counting blessings... | |
"Patience is a state of mind that beholds the world from the harmony of the Christ Mind, a freedom from personal thinking. It is an attitude of mind characterized by poise, calmness, and a quiet restful trust, especially in the face of trying conditions. It has its foundation in Love."
I will confess that during the 40+ hours I spent in the Denver airport, I had periods of complete frustration, unabashed anger, and absolute despair that I would ever get to leave. When my coordinator here at the Village called me on Monday evening, all I could do was sob into the phone. Not a wonderful picture of someone claiming the blessings of the moment. Finding it nearly impossible to go directly from that state of mind to "the harmony of the Christ Mind", I did what I frequently do- start with gratitude.
I was very thankful for two kind and generous women had appeared out of nowhere with tissues and loving arms on Sunday evening when I got the news that I wasn't going anywhere. They took me into their company and we shared each other's Presence for the duration. I am still thankful that there are healthy eating options in the Denver airport. I am thankful that I actually chose those healthy options during my stay. I have a new-found appreciation for the vast supply of t-shirts for sale in airport gift shops, since my luggage enjoyed a smooth and timely trip to KC International.
While waiting, I had the opportunity to meet and enjoy lunch at the airport with another Unity leader who was headed here to the Village. I enjoyed listening to Daniel Nahmod's soothing "Sacred Love 2" album amid the chaos and noise of the terminal. I laughed on the phone as Barb McLawhorn told me about the outrageous Bible stories she found while doing her homework for Cindy's class. I am thankful for the people who maintain airport restrooms so beautifully! I appreciated that Jon was taking care of chores like auto maintenance while I was gone. I am thankful for the Daily Word writers who somehow always give us exactly the reminders that are most helpful.
I was blessed to be the focus of many prayers, and all of the outer things that needed to be adjusted to allow me to complete my work here were adjusted. I am now caught up and on track with my obligations for the rest of the week. I have had the luxury of time to read and to meditate. I have had the blessing of time to savor the warm memories of the hugs and good wishes I received at church on Sunday afternoon as I was leaving. Along with the more human emotions I've experienced this week, gratitude and appreciation have also been very close companions. I am indeed blessed.

THANK YOU!
|
If you've been hoping that everything would someday "be perfect"... I've got good news for you- today is that day, IF you choose to make it so. If you haven't been counting your blessings, start today. If you haven't been meditating, start today. If you haven't been doing release (denial) and affirmation work, start today.
I'll be back at church on Sunday for our early prayer service (8:50), choir practice (9:30) and then our Sunday service starts at 10:30am. We'll sing, we'll pray, we'll explore non-resistence together. After service, please stay for refreshments and to meet your fellow spiritual explorers. If you have comments or questions, just use the "reply" button on your email- all replies come directly to me. I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
Once again, I invite you to pause, and know the Truth: YOU are strong, positive, powerful,
wise, loving, fearless, free spirit!
Blessings...
Nita
