Complementary Medicine Workshop
Added to Conference Lineup

We have added more workshop descriptions for you. Take a look at some of this year's conference offerings:

Use of Complementary & Alternative Medicine (CAM) in Systemic Sclerosis: The percentage of patients who try or regularly use complementary or alternative medical (CAM) therapies is conservatively estimated at 25 percent. This is in agreement with the percentage used  by scleroderma patients. There are perceived or real benefits to using CAM modalities, usually related to symptom improvement, but there are also potential hazards. It is recommended that the choice to use CAM therapies is made after gathering facts and weighing the risk-benefits. This lecture provides an overview of CAM therapy use in scleroderma and some practical points when considering these modalities. The presenter also will report on CAM-related research Frech HeadShotin scleroderma patients. Presented by Dr. Terry A. McNearney.

What is Scleroderma Vasculopathy? This talk will discuss what vasculopathy means for scleroderma patients.  It will highlight preventive measures for blood vessel health, including nutrition and screening studies. Presented by Dr. Tracy Frech.
