Holiday presents

Greetings!

Your contributions matter

As we near the end of 2010, we'd like to remind you that your commitment and support is vital to the success of the Scleroderma Foundation.

Please consider making a special holiday gift to support the Foundation and its mission.

It's easy to give a gift on our secure Web site or by calling our office toll-free at (800) 722-HOPE. Our office is open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time) Monday through Friday. If you live within a Scleroderma Foundation chapter territory, a gift that you make through the Web site or by calling the National Office will be forwarded to your chapter.

Finally, the national office is closed Friday, Dec. 24, to observe the Christmas Eve holiday.

Our brightest holiday wishes to you and your family!

Prevent Raynaud's pain and tingling
Try these seven ways to prevent syndrome attacks

Arthritis Today LogoIf you're among the estimated 20 to 30 percent of people with inflammatory arthritis who also have Raynaud's syndrome, or Raynaud's phenomenon, a condition that affects blood flow to the extremities and causes pain, numbness and tingling, the fall and spring - months when temperatures are constantly shifting - can be especially challenging.

Read more about preventing symptoms from a Raynaud's syndrome attack.

 What is celiac disease?

MedicineNet.com LogoIn celiac disease, there is an immunological (allergic) reaction within the inner lining of the small intestine to proteins (gluten) that are present in wheat, rye, barley and, to a lesser extent, in oats.

The immunological reaction causes inflammation that destroys the lining of the small intestine. This reduces the absorption of dietary nutrients and can lead to symptoms and signs of nutritional, vitamin, and mineral deficiencies.
