| NIAMS ARRA Funds Push Skin Research Forward | |
Funds provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and administered by the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS) have enabled Kathleen Green, Ph.D., a professor of pathology at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine, to add staff and equipment to her lab. This has bolstered Dr. Green's ability to better understand how skin epithelial cells communicate not only with each other, but with molecules in the extracellular matrix that lies below them. |

 PHA has launched a new program, the Mentor Program, which offers email-based, one-on-one support to PH patients and family members.

| Travel Tips from Kristin at Creaky Joints |
Kristin writes, "I couldn't think of a better way to "recover" from my flare-up from the first half of this summer than my series of vacations over the second half. After spending so much time housebound, I was dying to go just about anywhere, and I was rewarded with vacations to New York City, San Diego, Austin, Boston, and Rhode Island. With so many trips back to back, I tested my endurance and have learned a few tricks to ease the strain of traveling."
