"Why I Am Attending the Conference"
Karen Lovinger"I have been to the last four National Conferences, and each has been very important to me. While attending, I've had great experiences, met new friends, and felt a sense of community. The workshops are always good and filled with new information. Being able to learn about the latest research and new treatments has been invaluable, giving me the knowledge to decide on treatments for myself. Networking with professionals as well as support groups members and leaders is so helpful. I cannot say enough about the volumes of information that is there to glean! I am planning on going to Boston this summer. I hope to see all of my acquaintances there from the past years and hope to make new ones!"

11 Tips for Living With Chronic Pain
Woman with a headache1. Learn deep breathing or meditation to help with chronic pain.
Deep breathing and meditation are techniques that help your body relax, which eases pain. Tension and tightness seep from muscles as they receive a quiet message to relax.

Although there are many to meditate, the soothing power of repetition is at the heart of some forms of meditation. Focusing on the breath, ignoring thoughts, and repeating a word or phrase -- a mantra -- causes the body to relax. While you can learn meditation on your own, it helps to take a class.
