December 2009 "Scleroderma Voice" cover.A Look Ahead to 2010

We're just days away from the start of 2010, and the Foundation is gearing up for another great year of advancements and achievements in the fight against scleroderma. Thanks to your support and generosity, the Foundation has made available $1 million in 2010 to new and existing researchers through its peer-reviewed Research Grant Program." Starting in January, the Foundation will feature new enhancements to the online and print publications. Our 2010 National Conference in Boston is already shaping up to be the event of the year, with new workshops and speakers already in the works. These new and developing initiatives and events are what help the national office, chapters, and support groups deliver the best possible support and resources for patients, families, and caregivers.

Consider giving your family member or friend a 2010 membership to the Scleroderma Foundation—the nation's leading nonprofit funder for scleroderma research and information. For only $25, members will receive a one-year subscription to the Foundation's quarterly magazine, the "Scleroderma Voice," as well as discounted pricing for the 2010 National Conference. Best of all, every membership dollar received goes directly to supporting the Foundation's mission. Membership orders placed between now and January 4, 2010, will also include a free SF gift!*

To continue sharing your support of the Foundation, consider referring a friend to receive our FREE weekly e-Letter www.scleroderma.org/e_letter_signup.shtm.

Together, we can each make a difference in the fight against scleroderma. From all of us at the Foundation, we wish you and yours a happy and healthy New Year!

Winter safety outdoors

Slips and falls: No matter how steadily we walk, it's hard to go an entire winter without at least one "whoops!" A slip-and-slide on an icy patch is graceless at best. Maybe we fall on our bums. Or worse, we really hurt ourselves. Do your best to prevent pratfalls and injuries:

  • Keep walkways and stairs cleared of snow and ice. This protects not just you and your family but also postal carriers and other people making deliveries in your neighbourhood.
