Scleroderma Lung Study II Logo

Scleroderma Lung Study II (SLS II) Now Open

SLS II is a clinical research study focused on treating scleroderma-related pulmonary fibrosis. It is funded by a grant from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health. This study compares two different medications—daily oral cyclophosphamide (CYC, also called CytoxanTM) with daily oral mycophenolate mofetil (MMF, also called CellceptTM). Both medications have shown promise in stabilizing lung function in patients with pulmonary fibrosis.

CHESTScleroderma Foundation Attends 2009 CHEST Meeting

The American College of CHEST Physicians (ACCP) held its annual CHEST meeting in San Diego, Calif., on October 31st through November 5th. The meeting brought together over 4,000 individuals from across the globe, many of whom were practicing physicians and other medical professionals. The educational forum was designed to inform the medical community about latest developments in the prevention and treatment of chest diseases.

1st Systemic Sclerosis World CongressInvitation to the 1st World Scleroderma Congress

You are cordially invited to a special event: The 1st World Scleroderma Congress in Florence, Italy, February 10–12, 2010.

This will be a dual event, consisting of a three-day congress for doctors, and a one-day event for patients and their families at which rheumatologists will address issues of interest to people who are affected by scleroderma.

New provisional criteria for the diagnosis of very early systemic sclerosis aim to close the “unacceptably wide” gap between the onset of early signs of the autoimmune connective-tissue disease and the time of disease diagnosis, said Dr. Marco Matucci-Cerinic in the September issue of the Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases.

13th Annual "Key to a Cure" Gala Hosted by the Southern California Chapter: Another Success!

The Southern California Chapter hosted its 13th Annual "Key to a Cure" fundraiser in Manhattan Beach, California, this past weekend on November 7. The evening event included a silent auction and elegant dinner along with entertainment and dancing from the Wayne Foster Entertainment. California Congresswoman Linda T. Sanchez was presented with the "Key to a Cure" award for her exceptional contributions to the mission of Scleroderma Foundation.
