Rheumatoid Arthritis: Keeping a Positive Outlook

Rheumatoid Arthritis: Keeping a Positive Outlook

Realistic optimism fuels the body's immune system and triggers natural painkillers.

BYU Study: Disabilities Increase Marital Happiness

BYU Study: Disabilities Increase Marital Happiness

Perhaps broken backs can mend hearts.

That's the implication of new research by Jeremy Yorgason, a Brigham Young University professor of family life. Yorgason, with help from two Penn State researchers, collected data from more than 1,200 married people nationwide between 1988 and 2000 to examine whether changes in health affected their marital happiness. What they found surprised them all: Couples in which one member became disabled reported greater happiness afterward.

LIHEAP State Grantees

NOTE: To inquire about the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), the general public should use the public inquiry telephone number if available for their State. That number may provide the public with information about the State's program much quicker than the LIHEAP agency number. Further information about a State's LIHEAP program can be obtained from State LIHEAP Web sites where available.
